If i bought one and stuck my 1.8 head on it + all other parts would it work ok? The only prob i can see is the ecu being a valver one? How do you go about it and what will it cost? Also, i assume the meggy/williams/valvers cambelt are all the same size, so it wouldnt mess up the timing in anyway.

Only things you need are the bottom end, starter motor and ECU.

Cool, will my starter not fit then? I take it you mean the meggy ecu? < Will it run ok with the 1.8 head then? Soz for the stupid questions. :D

How much we talkin for a meggy bottom end and ecu? :D

Can some just confirm for me what you need off of the megane to fit the bottom end to a valve as I might be going this route myself over the winter if my engine is dead.

cheers

Nothing much mate as said above. Just the starter ecu and the bottom end. Gaskets and stuff should be the same :D

Tryin to find out how much they go for now as i want to go down this route for next year :P

Are the ECU's the same then.

I always thought I had to stick a 2.0 remap on my 1.8 ecu BUT I could get away with driving it with its standard map if I needed to.

what year Megane's did the bottom end come in ??

I cant say for sure but a meg engine is the same as a willy almost so the ecu should be the same. I imagine you just plug my loom into the meg ecu. 2.0 megs started on p plates i think and went to about s or t reg i think. Im not sure. :?

You need a Willy ECU not the Megane one.

lol a megane ecu is totally diffrent.

you can run it on a valver ecu.. but i'd try get hold of a williams one, or alternatively send your ecu to hill power who will chip it to megane 2.0l btm and 1.8 head .. £150.

you definately need a willy starter... other fit fbut soon **** up...

thats it.

So all we need is

Megane bottom end
Williams start
and a little Hill Power magic :)

The reason i asked is because i wondered if it was cheaper to get a meg lump over a willy lump. Williams ecu's are like rockin horse shit so the other option is a remap cost of £150  How much all the costs come too. Is it easier to pay £700 for a willy lump?

neilc

yer but trying to find Williams lump would be harder than finding a Megane bottom end.

Andyvalver

Try finding a williams ecu on its own to go with the meg lump  They normally go with the engine.

I would just get hill power the remap the 16v one.

Andyvalver

Yeah, you could. I was thinkin of the cheapest way to get 2.0 though. With all the messing about and extra cash it might be easier to buy/find a willy lump in the first place. :?

getting hold of a willy ecu is a twat... they usually snap up quickly.. i'd just get a hill power map.. the map is closer to the 2.0btm end 1.8 head setup than the willy one.
