I have a water pump gasket and inlet manifold that have 'welded' themselves to the engine.

What is the best way to remove these? Is there anything I can use to soften them up?

Also, is brake cleaner OK to clean the mating surfaces with after?

Thanks

James

just pull them off, it will come off by hand eventually

there is a gasket remove spray but i usually just use a wallpaper type removal tool. flat wide blade. can use a stanley blade in a paint remover tool also

nitromors paint remover, without a doubt the best!! leave it soak for 20 mins or more, gaskets come off with a scraper easy, brake cleaners great too, doesnt leave an oily residue which wd40 does etc

Just get a window scraper that takes a stanley blade, for removing paint around windows, from B&Q etc its about 99p and does the job, make sure you dont' start digging inot the metal, esp if its on teh head etc
