looking at getting headwork and cams for the car. hillpower quote roughly 20bhp for the above work at a cost of £1500. thats a lot of cash for imo not really that much increase and i dont really think that your really going to notice that much of a difference tbh. makes me a bit reluctent to spend that sort of cash if im not going to be that blown away with the performance. ive got to be honest my last car was a clio cup and it was quite a bit faster than the williams is especially up to a ton. the williams currently has full magnex, de cat, hillpower shielded induction kit and hillpower stage 1 chip. whats everyones opinions?

It's a hell of a lot of money to spend on a car that's only worth £3000, say. That's half the value

But you'd definately notice a difference in performance :D

ive had the headwork done at hillpower, cost me the same amount of money, u dont really notice it when ur driving by urself, but u do if u look at the speedo or your racing something.......thats when u notice the difference, i raced a mate in his standard valver when mine was standard and it was same (obviously) but when i had the work done, i cant express how much i wiped the floor with him and many other cars taht i couldnt usually beat!!!!
hope u understand that

did u have cams as well dan? apparently the 2.0 responds better than the valver to the above mods as well.

yeah i had, port, polished, flowed head, fastroad cams (set for top end performance, 150MPH in a valver  ), verneir pulleys, stage 2 chip and a few other bits and bobs that nick might throw in!!

am going back soon to have my cams reset for bottom end performance!!!

definatly worth it mate

cup quicker than your williams to 100mph! lol you must have a poor example of a williams.

get it RR'd first imo and find out what sort of power it's running, if it's a lot slower than your cup was there could be something not quite right.

20bhp is a big difference too, as it's a torque increase too that you get. the main advantage is that your power band widens quite a lot too. some of the guys on here are getting 0-100 times of 14 seconds, so it's a BIG difference really.

its not a lot slower it just is a bit slower. they both weigh about the same and the cup had more power. pretty obvious really.

cup quicker than your williams to 100mph! lol you must have a poor example of a williams. cups are very quick cars mate believe me i had mine from new for a year and a half and loved it, just prefer the williams  just want the willy to be a bit quicker than it is at the moment. mind u the handling is far superiour to the cup and i had the cup lowered on eibach springs 30mm but the willy still handles better in standard form. looks much better as well 8)

ive been in a few williams/16v's and a couple of clio sports and tbf every 172/82 ive been in, are/is quicker than the williams/valvers in general, apart from mark ritchspeeds willy that was pretty quick, just a bit quicker than the "new, reno sports". however, i wouldnt say a williams would get pasted but 172/82's deff has the jump on a williams. some ppl on here think that williams are quicker that what they say they are and always say "nah mate ur willy should easily keep up with that" and i just dont see it myself and i wouldnt say mine was particuarly slow or quick, just normal.

well why is it that a lot of the Williams on here are doing low 14's on the 1/4 mile then?

they ARE quick cars, easily enough for a 172/182

i had a play with a 182 the other night and he was going nowhere, if anything i was leaving him

i certainly outpaced a 172 on motorway from a roll of 15 mph after traffic...i was surprised...had a bash with a 182 also....

1/4 mile times speak for themselves.. most 172s 182s run 15s lol

172 cups are the only quick flavour of mk2 ..the figures speak for themselves.....andy's williams 14.9, northy 14.8, Jan 15.0, Monkey 14.99 all pretty much stnd cars running quicker than 172/182s.

exactly what i said then.

agree with martin in stock form 172 182 dont worry about em it is the cups you have to worry about

our lass has a 172 cup and its bloody quick might struggle in the freak (willy2) when it comes out of hybernation

Jamie, you should be right with MK2's at least, if not there's a problem imo. Ask BozM off CS how quick Willy's are, he only ever saw the back of the Williams on the M1 and I was weighing more at the time too (extra person in car, 4 wheels, 4 tyres, luggage... lol). I've NEVER even struggled with a 182

wasnt talking about full fat 172 i had a cup which is 80kg lighter than standard 172 and deffo quicker. and it was quicker than my williams. thats why im looking at head work and cams as obviously if i can get the willy up to 180bhp is lighter than the cup so should be quicker. :)
