right im after another car for work, i have a r19 1.4 at the mo but its pants and is about dead! bear in mind i have the williams for trackdays and weekend fun, so whatever i get will be 100% std!

looking at either a
1) saxo vts
2) 106gti or rallye mk2
3) clio valver
4) 205gti 1.9

the saxo vts and 106's being more at top of list due to age really, already owned a saxo before so i know all about em so no worries there, spending about £1500 at most

what u lot think? any other cars btw, must be cheapish to insure and run btw

and ur asking this on a williams forum, where we love our renaults so what do you expect us to say
oh btw he fails to mention it needs to be quick as a 'spare' track car in case the williams plays up!

What about a suzuki swift gti  1.3 16v twincam and cheap tax/insurance.fuel :P

100bhp and 750kg/132bhp/ton Nippy little motors but dont look the best :?

Best get something relaible so Micra or Mk1 1.2 Clio etc. I know of a 1.2 Mk1 which had 180k on it before it gave up.

For track days you don't massive speed or power I have load of fun in my diesel which isn't quick by any means.
1.5 Corsa TD would be good a few bent hidden engine bits and its 100hp. £80 a year road fun 50mpg and cheap parts what else can you want.

im using the williams for trackdays edde, just would like somethign decent for driving to work as the clio is excactly comfy now!

was after a car to tow with but not to fussed tbh, keeping clio on road anyway so a nice vts or that type of car will do me

Erm, predictably, how about a GTi6 Richy? Would be a lot better at towing than the 106/Saxo and you can get one for under 2 grand. Nice and refined for everyday but ooooh so much fun 8)

Richy, if your not bothered much about performance go for a saxo vtr, shitloads cheaper to insure than a vts and just about as much fun for the run to work and back!

id say the 106 rallye mate, can pick em up cheap, good petrol consumption and there still pretty quick, ad look the nuts standard!!!!!

Forget the idea of towing the Williams though its to much hastle unless its completly unroadworthy. I've got a trailer and tow car sorted and I'm going to drive to track days it to much haslte otherwise.
Only time its worth it is if you have a very very light kit car ie open air so it would be a pain to drive in.

Why the hell are some of you suggesting little boring cars? If he can afford something fun n fast, what's the point in being sensible? Stop being a bunch of boring bastards! :P

tbh edde i will just drive it there its insured etc as u said alot of hassle sorting trailer etc so i dont need to buy a bigger car to tow really, thats why a vtr/vts would be tempting , insurence theres about £80 difference from vtr to vts, so no bother really

the 19 i have a a grp 10!!!!!!!! a 1.4 8v with 80bhp!

gti6 are nice but dont fancy one tbh zollo, something small n quick like vtr/vts/106rallyes etc will do me, can easy afford to run them aswell as williams!

I've got a good excuse that I'm a diesel head (sort of like a petrol head but cheap). Cannot imagine what other peoples excuses are.
