View Full Version : Manifold wrapping
Ordered my supersprint fanimold but was wondering wether to wrap it, Worth it or not?
I'd do it...might as well even if the gains are marginal.
Only reduses under bonnet temps doesn't it?
yeah and its extra protection mate, imo worth doing while its off and easy to do, if it was me personally i would
Extra protection for what Rich?
A quick google search reveals all

I'm going to be Ceramic coating mine.
Mat.
Use black satin on it, £23.84 for a tin, paint it on, page 261 of teh tweeks catalogue.
Forms a thermal barrierm, gonna paint mien wiht that and then wrap it, want it cool as, as its just under my inlet manifold
ahh rite so its just a kinda cloth that u wrap it with?
apparently its more likely to crack the manifold if its wrapped.

One of my mates builds stainless exhausts for a living and he recommends not to wrap them as it can damage the pipe and eventually causes cracking where the welds are. I doubt it'll get any hotter than the standard manifold, and it'll look worse.
See ya
Matt
its only meant to crack cast iron exhausts not stainless steel ones. that what that page say and surely they should know since of course they will have tested there products and if they did crack then trading standards would have come down on them!
yep its only cast manifolds u shouldnt wrap. as for gains, the advantage is that you are reducing thermal losses....leading to increased thermal efficiency.
you would notice gains if you had an open filter since there wouldnt be as much warm air soaking into it.
