View Full Version : Engine Idenitification
Hello,
I'm sure this has been posted recently but I can't seem to find it anywhere.
How can you tell the difference between a williams engine and valver engine? Also, is there anyway you can tell the difference between the gearboxes? I'm looking for visible differences if possible!
Cheers,
Craig

A lot of the things are easy to take off and swap tho.
The only things on the block are sometimes they have F7R cast into them, more so on the later ones, failing that you need to look for the wide shallow strengthening veins on the back of the block which are the need for the smaller starter motor.
As for the gearbox the only visable difference is the input shaft is bolted in and not part of the casting.

Unless theyve started fitting oil filters on the shell it will be on the engine block to the right hand side of the oil filter

my mate says you have to take the radiator out to get to the oil filter! is this true? it will be my first service on a f-type engine so im not sure....
Its bollocks, you can get to it witht eh rad in, its just not very easy, but certainly easier then draining the coolant and removing teh rad
Good :)
