IIRC williams rack is unique. don't ask what makes it unique i'm just sure it is. Someone will confirm this though.

Thats why people get there racks refurbed coz there not available new anymore. People list them as williams racks but there not.

AFAIK you have a manual rack and a PAS rack, the williams/16v etc racks are the same i THINK

Got play in your stearing??

Have you check the Universal joint on the column first

im sure its just the track rod ends that are a little longer than 16v ones, im sure this is the only difference i could be wrong tho????

Yeah was going ion the fact that when you do a front track conversion youi don't need to change the rack

yes me...

i exchanged a willy rack at gsf, the replacement was a recon, exactly the same, with same markings on...
renault made 2 phases of steering racks, the first phase went on the williams 123 the second went on valvers the difference is the track rods are a male end...so when you buy a rack you may find you have a ph2 rack, jut invest in the correct track rod ends for it... turning ratios are the same.

The gsf ones don't come with the collars on the end of the track rods, well it didn't when I bought one about 2 years ago.
These would have to be taken off of your old rack.

the rack from gsf will be correct, bar the track rods...end of..

They must have screwed up with mine then when it was refurbed.

Not a problem though, just took the old collars off and all was well.
