I have a standard exhaust, but now have a de-cat on it so its not completely original, has made it a little louder.

i dont really want it to be super loud, i want it to be meaty

my standard exhaust i spretty quiet sounds nice tho when you open it up a de-cat helps the noise plenty of popping and a bit of flame too!!! :D

as above, get a de-cat and it will sound a lot nicer. :D

What beasty sound you on about? if it sounds k&n ish its most likely the engine.
I cant hear my exhaust when i get into the higher revs.

i'm on a standard exhaust, with cat convertor and a pipercross on the engine and its all induction roar, can't hear the exhuast note atall, but more to the point i cant feel it resonate either which is good since i do a lot of motorway miles!!!

if i let it idle n go round the back the tailpipe burbles nicely tho which is good enough for me!

I know what you mean. I have a 3" scorpion with original Cat and a standard straight-thru center section. It sounds 'meaty'. Deep and meaningful sounding.
Only problem is it resonates at all the wrong speeds (30mph, 60, and 70) and does my head in on the motorway. Conversely, it goes quiet and makes a really nice sound under hard acceleration, and then booms on over-run. I think it makes the car out to be something it's not. might see if I can get some sort of restriction just before the backbox, or just change back to the original

No offence I/K users, but I hate induction noise. To me it just says "I'm a chav with a 50bhp air filter". Now T/B's or carbs, that's a different matter...

yer i prefer the sound of an exhaust than a I/K.
hence why i posted this topic

A valver is one of the best sounding hatches that i know of. With a standard air box they have a loud induction noise :? People must think were all chavs anyway then  I think its the other way round personally, i hate people who drive around at 30mph sounding like their doin a ton. eg, nova's/saxo's with badboy exhausts because their engines dont make any real noise

Oh well, the twin 40's more than made up for that! (actually, the cruddy Peco didn't make any noise at all!)
