williams engine to 16v gearbox? [Archive]

just wanna make sure that the 16 v gearbox is ok to use with the williams engine as i have got one being delivered this week but he hasnt got a gearbox with it? any other things i need to consider when getting the williams engine fitted?

im using a 16v gearbox with my willy engine in the valver, no problems, shorter ratio for tht bit of acceleration but tops out at 135 :(

thats fine with me, only ever been at those speeds twice in 3 years, was there anything else that has to be sorted to accept the williams engine or is it literally whip the ol' 1.8 out and plug the 2.0 in?

I'd think about doing the following

Cambelt, idler and tesioners
Clutch
Use your 1.8 exhaust manifold

Valver box does the job :D

haha good stuff, its been hard enough looking for a williams engine i tell ya, nearly gave up on the search! basically the head gasket is on the way out on the 1.8 and was quoted £800+ to get it sorted, ive just bought this engine for £600 apparently its only done 16k so just gotta swop the good bits off mine plus getting an E.C.U and hopeully job's a good un!

I'm getting a williams lump put in my valver at the mo. Courier lost the ECU. Don't want to depress u but finding a replacement F7R ECU was a fooker. However if ur stuck hillpower can tinker with ur F7P ecu (stage 1 I think) so that it'll work and give u a few extra horses too!! Bad news however is that it'll cost u just over £200.

well dosent look like im getting it now, cit-ren originally told me on the phone that they had a williams engine for sale, and took my details, then i found out that they were bidding on that 16k mileage engine on e-bay, they have pulled out the bidding and someone else has got it, even though cit-ren said it would be delivered to me by the end of the week! very disapointed, looks like i'll have to keep looking :(

doubt it's 16k engine anyway, no paperwork to back it up and only a picture of a dial... wouldn't worry, ring these guys and ask for Si, he'll more than likely be able to get you a freshly rebuilt 2.0 bottom end for a fraction of that price...

Also what about getting a valver head and keganne block, valver engines are dirt cheap, or juyst use your head,a nd buy a megane block

i just been to the guy who won that expensive ass willy engine off ebay n knobbed u over mate!!!! i bought a water pump n inlet manifold off him for £20 and picked them up like an hour ago!shook his hand n everything!!!!he said to me it cost him £600, bollox it did!! winnin bid is 1750!!! if i'd of known he got ur engine mate would of said summit!haha!

jeez, one day i'll get this all sorted lol, took the engine up to hillpower, pop open the van door, first thing he says is "you do know this is a megane engine dont you?" im gonna print off my original email to cit-ren which clearly states im looking for a clio williams engine, then take the lot to them and try to get a refund

yeah spoke to nick hill about it, we have another plan,
when i company sell you a williams engine you expect just that, not a megane engine, they claim it came out of a williams 2 but that is irrelivant because i have got something i didnt ask for, gonna have words with them again tomorrow.
