just taken the head off me williams and the bores all have these vertical scratches, one cylinder has a vertical scratch that i can actually feel with my finger.

Could these by why im losing compression??? but in all 4 cylinders?? Confused thought it was the valves not closing properly but the valves are all undamaged and look as if they close properly, obviously i can't tell whether they are creating a gas tight seal or not.

how serious are vertical scratches on the bores? and are my rings likely to be damaged as well in this case?

first pick looks like your valves have come into contact with your pistons!!!!

Valves can look unbent in the head, need to take them out to check runout.

Scoring can be had in the bores with no real detrimental effects (slight, but not a loss of compression), but it looks like peices of metal in the other cylinder ontop of the piston against the bore in the first pic aswell?

ignore the bits of gasket in one of the cylinders.. dropped in when took head off

also a couple of pistons have damage from bent valves that happend 30k ago.

answers my post then lol.

Hmm, did you do a comp and leakdown test before removing the head?

The scoring would have to be bad to ruin running like yours, plus it would blow smoke and crankcase pressure would be high.
