Having just seen the pic of all the great hot hatches, got me wondering if the Willy is still King of Hot Hatches, even with the new run of motors like the CTR, Clio Trophy etc etc.

Personally i think it still is. Its back to basics for me. No traction control, ABS. Its all about driver feel, and being in tune with the car. Surely thats why it was Evo's 6th best drivers car ever.

What do you guys think?

Were not talking about what was the first real Hot Hatch, were talking about the King of Hot Hatches!!!

Willy all day long. Although Clarkson (cretin) rates the 106....i guess he never really got to drive the Willaims. They ought to do a King of Hot hatches around their test track. A standard steed of each eaxmple.

The guys at Auto Express are talking out of their big old BE HINDS!! An iconic car i agree, but the greatest hot hatch ever...??? In the words of Home Alone..."I dont think so".

to be honest i think its era specific, the 80's was the golf gti mk1 no question 8) , the 90's was the williams 8) , the naughties aren't over yet :twisted:

Id rather have a Williams than a Golf GTi, but if I wanted any hatch it was be a Sunbeam Talbot or a Chevette HSR you cant beat short wheelbase RWD-ness.

me dad says the golf gti mk1 is the best of all time, but he'd rather have a mini cooper(proper one not girly new thing)! :lol:

After having 2 205 gtis(1.6 and 165bhp 1.9gti) and now a willy2 i would personally say............

Id say yes it still possibly is, as for teh Gti..its only Iconic as it was the so called original Hot Hatch. There are much better hatches from the 80s than that anyways.

Hang on, are we about the fastest hot hatch, or the most iconic, most well known etc.

Fastest then its not the mk1 GTi, but i think iconic(sp) it is, 99% of peopel have heard of a Golf Gti, but how many people ahve heard of a Williams, alot less.

As someone said about it was the first true 'hot hatch'
