I am trying to have a fiberglass bonnet made up like GazTwo's, i have been told however it will be pricy due to them having to make a new mold so i was wondering if any of you lot would like one and how much you are willing to pay? I am looking at getting them for arround £180-£200. They will most probably be just a skin to keep the weight down as much as poss, and will only be available in the williams/valver style. Please post up if you would be interested and i will see what i can do.

I may be interested matey! I am going to see a carbon one soon at Autocross as he has a demo one so I can see the quality - What colour are the fibreglass ones - Or is that a stupid question?

The bonnets will be coming in white as standard and are ready to be painted straight onto with no primer reqired. I am also looking into getting some carbon look stickers for them.

I can find out which company originally made Gaz's if you want Northy, then you can phone them to get a quote, iirc it wasn't too expensive. May even do it cheaper with a group buy...

Either using pins like mine or straps...yet to decide.....don't see why the original catch couldn't be fitted, would need molding into the fibre glass though I presume.

thats why im asking gaz, might be a good idea to mould it in as the bonnet is made (to order of course)

or u could always rivet one on ?

This particular bonnet has been made purly to save weight so it is very light and quite flexible so it would probably not be suitable for the catch, but i can find out. I am fixing it on with 4 bonnet pins. They can be made with strenthened beams in like a normal bonnet and can be fitted like gaz's but the price will be slightly higher. When it is finnished i will get a price that i can sell them for.

Tommo, i would be interested how much you can get them for, could be a good bargaining tool for price also.

I would prefer if it woudl use std hinges and catch, i park my car in coventry city centre all day most days, its its held on by bonnet pins i'll give it about a week before i come back to my car and find no bonnet on it

I went down to see the guy today, he is sorting out my bonnet first then he is going to see what else he can do, but it wouln't be a problem to more strengh into it to be used on the standard hinges. You can get security bonnet clips for them.

They are tough, well the one on mine (now Gaz's) was. It was fitted in 1998 and it's still going strong! There were quite a few stone chips, but no more than a standard bonnet after 7 years of use.

TBH I only sold mine cos I didn't like the fact the bonnet could be opened from the outside and never felt safe parking it anywhere, but if you can get security clips then I'd say it's definitely worth it!
