bought a golf vr6 splitter for my valver a couple of months back, and this afternoon i finally got around to fitting it from this:

to this:

can only just get on the drive though with about an inch clearance
http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b3/scott1987/my%20clio/splitterdrive.jpg
took me all afternoon but was easier than i though it would be, once i got the right drill bit i was straight through all the pop rivvets, then i had to butcher the splitter in the middle cos it was too wide, and on the ends cos it was too long, i'm pleased ive done it though i think it looks mint
let me know what you think, good or bad comments welcomed 8) :D

and the grill  , lucky really as i measured with a screwdriver down from the middle of the numberplate for where i needed to cut the splitter and its looks pretty damn accurate to me

Like it mate, alot.

How much did that set you back if you dont mind me asking?

Scott-16v!

they come in halves from gsf car parts at £16.25 each, came to about £38 including the vat :)
whether it stays on or not depends on how long it last over humps, going into car parks and turning into streets  got 2" clearance on the flat and about an inch going onto the drive as seen in pic :P

lol, can you get ibiza splitters from there?

Scott-16v!

i'd imagine so yeah, quite a few people have already got them though which is part of the reason i wanted something different :)

^^exactly! the one i had on my mk3 golf got ripped off about a dozen times  and that was nowhere near as low as the valver

Was it easy to fix to the bumper, what did you use ??

Scott-16v!
11-10-2005, 11:27
dads tools lol, had to drill the old one off cos it was rivveted on, once i'd cut this one to size i bolted it on so that it wouldn't be too easy to rip off, about a dozen bolts in it i thinkm quite lucky cos a few of the holes on the bumper matched up with the brackets on the splitter. took me about 4 hour to do. now i'm in the process of putting the rubber one on the back bumper and its proving to be a right bitch to fit, i have to keep hacksawing loads off the top clip bits so that it will bend to fit :x

Not dissimilar to the Seat Ibiza splitter

Scott-16v!
11-10-2005, 18:10
the front or the rear :? ? its not much deeper than the seat one really, i think it only looks massive in the original pics cos its so close up, the one on the rear is the original valver front item

Scott-16v!
15-10-2005, 14:26
^^ive wondered about that before, dont the phase 2's has a sunken barrel for the key? maybe its cos my car was manufactured in the changeover year being a mid/late '94 model. knowing renault they thought sod it weve got some of these left lets put that on

god my eyes are good!

Dont worry about it though, phase 1's are miles better - mine always refuses to give my key back after filling up!

lol i dont mind spendin £36 on a splitter but for it to be ripped off by the speedbumps on my street when i pull away when i first put it on is a bit of a waste lol. it catches on almost everything as it is.
Infact sod it why shudnt i have a splitter.....il just make sure it doesnt come off with big hefty bolts :D lol wot splitters generally fit~?

Scott-16v!
21-10-2005, 17:56
lol, mines whacked loads of humps and carpark entrances in the few weeks its been on  the bolts have kept it in place though and its not budged. generally people fit laguna and seat splitters, don't know how easy they are to fit. mine took a lot of chopping to be honest, but its worth it in my opinion 8)
