no

3 ways to do it, according to mr gunner...

drop subframe and detach gearbox working underneath car, move gearbox to side, access clutch

engine out as above

gearbox out

i think that was right... im sure gunner will post when he see's this tho.

People say its easier to do it the subframe way but i dunno really. Engine out, engine back in again is the way i do it. The pic was just to scare you anyway naples, :P

subframe is a doddle mate.

although everything takes longer the first time u do things.

never done clutch before so i guess we'll see.

once i have my garage i may well take engine out aswell anyway.

engine out is far quicker if you have the means to do it

Far easier too, as you actually have room to move and get to things

Cost me ~£250 for a Renaulk tech to do it with offical parts at my house.
Took him all day 8 or 9am till 5pm though.
He just pulled the gearbox as far out as he could didn't lowere the subframe or anything.

was that a private job??? including parts?

was that a private job??? including parts?Yep private job including standard parts I don't think he'd do it as a mainstream at that price.
I rang a clucth specialist places and they would do it for £300 cash. Some garages even just mentionig Williams basically told me they wouldn't touch it shows how easy a job it is to do.

Knowing Neil (think thats his name) his prices are usually well under garage prices, last time i saw him he was busting a gut to find someone with a hexi coil, to hexi coil cupcake's 172 head after the piston hit the spark plug.

he used to be a cup racer mechanic, sound bloke and knows his stuff, not sure where hes based at the moment

My local garage, Pete Scale, in Leamington Spa did it for 150 quid cash in hand including clutch cable which they reckoned was harder than the clutch.

Already had cable with me just in case old one snapped and clutch was 40 quid from GSF.

Think they did it the subframe way. Hillpower quoted over 400 quid but that included inspection/clean of engine bay. I went for the cheaper option.

thats somethin I dread the box going, I'm hoping it'll last till the engine conversion, still seems pretty strong although for some reason it's always been really notchy..

I wouldn't htink twice for £200 odd smackers though!
