View Full Version : Really getting to me now - please help

My Clio 16v has a fault.

It has a rough idle but the ecu seems to cut in and level it out.

It has a bad flat spot as you pull off and also there is no power at the top of the rpm range. I cant even get it past 6500rpm in 3rd.

It sometimes also just splutters, no power between 2500-3500rpm.

So far the garage has no idea what it could be. I have changed so far:-

Fuel Pump
fuel filter
TDC
Coolant sensor
new plugs
lamber
garage tested the dizzy and leads and they are fine.

Does any one have an idea what it could be, it is really getting me down now.

have u checked the cat has died or is blocked up, whip it off and try a decat pipe etc

replace the dizzi cap and rotor arm

mine performed ok, but when i took em off the spindle was rusty and it needed a bloody good clean before it worked properly

Fuel pressure has been checked and is fine.

it is running a decat at the moment

Tried a different map sensor and checked the pipe and no change

Dizzy and rotor arm are have been tested at the garage and they are fine.

any thing else ??

try a differant ecu in ???

is the engine standard (ie no performance cams ?)

standard apart from a induction kit and SS exhaust with de-cat.

Will try and pinch my mates ECU to give it ago.

Could be the map sensor itself, mine was fubarred had to be replaced.

tried one of them.

Garage said the throttle pretension thingy signal keeps breaking so I have to try one of them.

Find a throttle body from a breakers that has one attached to it already

hi mate, think i replied to you about this in another thread? emsworth scrappy have a 19 16v sitting there with TB and potentiometer on still, shud be same as valver. worth a try.
