:D Just used my gtech for the first time on my willy2 (standard apart from a itg replacement filter)here are the 2 results so far:
1-0-60 7.15 can do better too much wheelspin and hit the rev limiter!!
2-0-60 6.81 better too much wheelspin still also went on to do 1/4 mile in 15.1 @ 101.1 mph :D
Not bad for the first couple of attempts but previous experience tells me these can be bettered!!(stop the wheels spinning will be a start!)
What results have other people had and do these results seem ok?
Used my mates sat nav other day and at 80mph in the willy the sat was reading 78mph pretty fair!!! 8)

How accurate are these things?

Not too accurate by the sounds of it 15.1 is a bit quick for a road surface start and 101mph is about 9/10 mph wide of the mark.

Mine is the G-Tech Pro and I have tested it at the Pod.

It was within 0.1-0.2 every time :D Cant complain about that

Without running out to the car(its pissing down!!) im sure it is a pro prob not 100% accurate but not a million miles off i think.Had discussions on other forums b4 and the general concensus is they are pretty good especially for the price.
Anyone who has used it have you tried the bhp measurement and if so what sort of figure do you put in for the weight and what sort of results do you get??
Prob need to do more runs and then take an average figure or get up to Pod and get some real figures!!

See i dont know how this 1/4 mile at this speed works!?

I had 2 go's at my mates gtech last night, dunno what one it is but rekons he paid £110 for it, totally bodged up the first so wont go there but the second read a 0-60 in 7.4secs then a 1/4 in 15.93@89.4mph!!!

Was loads of wheel spin in first and abit on the change into second and the road is pretty lumpy but still a great road for beasting down!!!

How does the Gtech measure BHP, torque and RPM??

wilyolddave
02-10-2005, 21:30
The gtech ive got (pro) only measures bhp not torque or rpm.It works by using an accelerometer but thats about all i know!!When doing bhp it needs you to input the weight of the car including driver fuel etc so best bet is to get to a weighbridge.
I need to get my few niggling probs sorted (see TICKOVER in tech forum!!) then im going to do a load of runs and see wot i can come up with  My mate in his M3 also wants to try it so that will be interesting!! 8)
There are better versions out there with data logging , GPs etc been toying with investing in one ??!only prob is one of these days im going to get caught mucking around with it , dont think coppers are going to see the usefullness of these gadgets!!
