Cossie everyday, my mate just sold his 450bhp one, was an ex-police car years ago and then he spent thousands on it!!!

yep cossie all the way mate, so much potential there

Cossie for me too. Easily the most exciting out of the four (when you tune them, anyway, which must be done). Getting collectable, so the best residuals, the rarest on the road, and the most special to own.

GTi6 is my next choice. Lovely cars, but if two of your mates have got them...

Mk1 172, Hmmm. Good, but after the Williams, not good enough.

VR6 Highline. Why not the Corrado? All the same good points as the Golf, but with handling as well.

The sensible choice of for cost, handling, equipment levels etc...Gti-6

The next would be the Mk2 Clio 172

The VR6....no good reasons that I can think of!

The Cossie...well lets look....Fast ( if tuned ) rarity 8)

The Cossie...bad points...High insurance, massive bills to repair, attracts thieves, RS500 still the one to go for...but prices are still very high.

My choice Renault Clio Williams....cost, performance, image, handling, looks, etc......still some great examples out there

Pretty pants list of cars TBH Scott... nothing else you fancy?

dont get me wrong, they are 'okay', but not exactly special in any way... i'd get another Willy or a 172 Cup if I were you... or spend more money and get something like an M3, Evo, 540i (mmm 4.4 v8 with quad cams!) etc...

What Jesus said.

My list would read (for that price range)

DC2 ITR
Corrado VR6 Storm
E30 M3
E34 M5
S14a 200SX

I can now confirm though that the better version of teh 306 GTI-6 is a piece of piss to service. :P

pmsl, yeah, could think of owt else, just strike me as dull coming from the Williams... none of those cars will ever fill the gap imo.

Cossie's fast but they just dont handle, end of. Pug is like a characterless bigger Williams that handles similar and goes almost as well (only ever had a blast with my mates Rallye and arseholed him, but I do have cams...). 172, again, it's a cheaper made newer attempted replacement for the Williams that as a performancehot hatch does well, but everything else falls flat on it face... again, it's nothing special and the price reflects this. Golf/Corrado VR6's much better option... if you crave something typically dull and German with over rated performance... advantage is it's a six and as such sounds the business, but again, wouldn't swap my car for one...

Evo 4 / 5 perhaps

Advantage of teh Corrado Storm is it handles better than a golf and will appreciate in value. You won't get appreciation in value from many other cars.

there was a Corrado Storm on here a bit ago... cant see it handling that well tho, seem to remember this particular one had enough space in the arches for 20" rims... sorry, rimz, aight.

They're actually alright I'm led to believe. Not sorted hot hatch territory but pretty good. Also rare as rocking horse shit. Steph wanted one but insurance is MASSIVE and so are residuals.

I must be in the minority here as I can't stand Cosworths, any model. They are so chavy and would be very difficult to find a straight one, and you would have to pay top dollar for a guddun. Over rated imo. Personally I would go for another Williams as for the money nothing comes close to the looks, exclusivity, performance and handling...

I had a vr6 corrado and didn't like it.

I'm also thinking about a E36 M3.

Wouldn't own another williams as I want mine fixed and wouldn't want another.

Older evo's go well but look shit IMHO.

Its looking like a cossie TBH. I love the ford turbo's, had a Fiesta and escort RS. Very fun cars with a bit of fettling. It'll only be used at weekends anyway, i use my van for work in the week.

If you want a cheapish reliable car go for the 306 or 172 (my preference would be the 172).
If you want something quick and unique the cossie ever time.
If you don't need the car for normal driving then I'd try for the integra.

the way things are going i dont think it is a question of when we are gona sell our williams, more along the lines of when someone will run into our cars and writte them off and force us to get summit else. been a few go recently

The Citroen version mate.

HP, from what I've heard this last week about E36 M3s you'd get bored. Apparently they do everything superbly but are just a bit bland. That's from two people that have owned them, both have since gone on to more exciting cars.

If you've driven a GTi6 /Rallye, let alone driven one properly, you wouldn't be saying it's characterless.

Corrado VR6 dull? Yeah, that's what all the experts say

And Cosworths not handling? You can't chuck them in a corner, floor the throttle and let the car do the work for you, like a FWD car, but if you have experience of RWD cars and drive a decent example, a Cosworth will handle well.

End of

Would you ever consider an Integra Type R HP?? Rev like crazy, LSD as standard, look good and are pretty rare (ish). Would probably be my next choice after the Williams...

Only wanna spend 6/7k on a car, (gotta buy a new van for work as well) so a teggy is a bit out of budget.

thought about a skyline gts [around 4k] or a gtr [around 6-9k]? better than a cossie IMO and probably most in better condition maybe?

You can get decent Teggys for that mate.
