Electric Sunroof - can hear the motor running but the roof doesn't open. Just get a sort of clicking noise as if the gears are disengaging. Any ideas anyone?
Cheers :)

Yep, your gears are slipping. Mine does it when closing it. Try taking the motor off and undoing the casing and then cleaning the metal gear wheel. Beyond that there isn't much you can do as I think it slips against the mechanism in the sunroof itself, and they cost a fair whack for new ones.

get a second hand sunroof from mat brown mate and just swap it over.

a guy who knows his stuff can do it in a day.

Id get a complete sunroof from mat brown and use that complete with the motor.

quick guide -

remove the headlining trim pannels.
remove the headlining
unbolt the sunroof
remove sunroof
exchange sunroof and reseal with a flexibe silicon sealer
bolt the sunroof back in
refit the headlining (velcro works well)
refit the headlining trim pannels.

Removing the headling takes the time. Ive done 2 now. My 1st took me 2 days and my second 30mins.

The second one was alot eaiser than my 1st !

Remove the roof console with the lights in etc and then undo the motor.

Then you neec the remove the inner roof seal round the headlining and carefully lower the headlining. I'd recommend you put gloves on and cover your arms as the fibreglass can irritate.

Then you should be able to see about 16 bolts going all the way round. Just undo these and it will lift clear of the roof.

BTW you can do it without removing teh headlining. It's fiddly but I managed.

if you do get fibreglass on your skin, wash with cold water NOT hot

the headlining isnt fibreglass guys.

the material is glued onto a foam base with a paper and straw backing on.

I repaired mine (as it had a few areas missing that stuck to the roof) with expanding foam...job done.

I would personally go for removing it complete - i can tell you all the tips to get it down if u give me a ring.
