Bought a williams 3 last week. Really happy with it. Can anyone comment or point me at answers on the following;

suspension renewal - seems a bit tired (done 96K)
engine performance upgrades
brakes renewal or upgrade

Appologies if this already appears somewhere on the forum but got about 10 pages in before thinking that others might benefit from the info too.

Ben (happy new Williams 3 owner)

If you intend on using it mainly on the road I'd go for a whole new stock original setup (maybe firmer springs) but also change all the rubbers etc for the anti roll bar and bushes.
Engine work is expensive I'd personally leave the engine till you have the rest of the car as you want.
Marks Willwood setup is superb though.

yup agree with edde just renew the springs(pos uprated) and shocks and new rubber bushes etc, best braking option is 4pots, i have the wilwood 4pot kit off mark same as a few on here, superb brakes, if the engine is sound dont touch it just regular oil changes and services, other then that a stainless exhausts system and pos decat if u wanted, should be tidy reliable motor then :)

Agree. The smallest change in the suspension bits can affect the ride and handling significantly. So make sure you replace all the rubber bits from ARB & wishbone bushes and suspension mounts. Does wonders to the car.

Thanks for all your tips guys. Where is a good place (i'm in Hampshire) to go for the suspension parts? Are there any companies that specialise in Williams Clio refurbs/modifications?

Hi Ben, where abouts in Hampshire are you?

K-tec are in Verwood (near Bournemouth) http://www.k-tecracing.com. They're Renault specialist, so would be the best people to speak to if you wanted to do it that way.

If I was you, though, I'd order all the parts and then get someone to fit the bits for me. I'm going to be renewing the suspension on mine. Just buying from a Renault dealer and getting my mate to fit it.

Ok, so I've been advised that throttle bodies are the best way to dramatically increase bhp (to about 200 from 150) and that Lumination are the best ones to look at. Does anyone have experience of this make or know where to find more info about their products?

Also been told that there is a really good rolling road at Owen Developments near Oxford - apparently the guys there are good enough to spot things/make impovements that other companies werent able to. Anyone used them/heard about them?

tbh I'd say your best bet would be to ring either BenR from AWT or Nick from Hillpower both these guys know everything there is to know about the f7r and will be able to help you out...

Buy a williams one, they are so much faster than those Williams 3's and 2's... just check out the Haynes day results for proof ;)

Just get the suspension parts from either GSF (one in portsdown), or Renault dealer (Liningtons in portsmouth).

BTW im in portsmouth, ARJ is in Gosport, Leighanne and Zollo are from southampton, and we often have little meet up's ! So let us know where you are dude! Be good to have another williams in the gang :D Albeit a Williams 3 ;)
