Hi all, I bought my W2 in 2011 and have been enjoying it since (I used to own a 16v when I was younger so this was the natural progression!). Anyway, the time finally came to get all the crusty bits sorted, see picture below. It should be ready in a few weeks and has had new arches, sills sorted, boot floor sorted, bumper mounts fabricated, front inner arches dealt with, front slam panel bits sorted etc etc. it's being primed now for a full re-spray. Typically I've ended up getting everything done whilst it is in bits so that it will be totally sound and mint when finished. I could do with some new fog lamps and can't find them for sale anymore, any suggestions?

you can still buy the fog lights from Renault. But they only stock one side now - but you can swap the housings over to make a left and right pair

That brings back memories.........my trouble was the people I used are anal and every bit they found they wanted to do....but as you say it's better to bite the bullet and just get it done rather than doing half a job!

Its great eat to see it all coming together towards the end though

That's great thanks, just emailed and will see what reply I get, otherwise I'll phone.

I have another question, there's a bit of plastic on the drivers window glass that I think guides the window up and down (basically stops it from dropping forwards when the window goes down). Apologies for sounding like a bit of an idiot but I don't know what it's called so I can't call anyone to order one (if they are available of course)....the one on the driver glass on my car is broken and it's very annoying that I have to hold the glass in position so it doesn't drop forwards.

Thanks.

Dont think that its a part that you can order, may be easier to buy a replacement glass from Matt Brown on this forum or find him under Clio Specialist on Face book 👍

you can get those clips separately.. I managed to get a couple a year or so back.. whether they still available or not is a different matter.. they are pop riveted on to the window.. ill try and find the part number for you

this is what it is.. double check the size and the vehicle list.. it says this fits...

I got mine from Renault.. window guide clips..

this clips stays in the runner and as lee is experiencing when it broken the windows doesn't always go up and down straight without some intervention via a hand..

Brilliant, I'll try Renault first to be sure and to find out about availability.

BTW - I tried 'Renault Parts Direct' for fog lights, but they also said out of stock. Finally managed to get some, but these were last two this other company had... So it looks like they are not available anywhere anymore! The only trouble (I think) is that the ones I orderd have a black surround but I think the originals should have a clear surround (I'm not 100% sure as the ones on my car also have a black surround which means I think they are not original - I have a Williams 2 brochure which looks like the fog lights should have had a clear surround). Can someone confirm for me? (The geek in me needs to know if I'm sticking to original or not!!).

PS thanks for everyone's help so far...its really appreciated. Hopefully it'll only be a week or two now before my car is ready at which point I'll upload some new pics.

Hi Lee, I'm pleased that you got sorted, looks like parts are starting to get scarce now.
You are slightly ahead of he at the moment, but if you have the originals, can you not swap the old (clear) surrounds for the black ones?

I'm clearly at risk of somebody correcting me here, best of luck with the resto

Lee, I maybe corrected also but i believe the clear surrounds were only supplied on W1 the W2 & W3 had black surrounds.

Cheers

yes as winters says

Williams 1 or phase 1 - Clear
Williams 2 / 3 or phase 2 - Black

Thanks all - looks like it'll still be 'original' then!

At the risk of becoming annoying my resto saga continues (I think), so the picture is what I've been sent as a fog light for my W2....but it doesn't look right to me (the car is in the body shop so I can't compare). Please can someone confirm if it's right or wrong.

Also, I wanted some door mouldings (external, between the glass and the door - garage called it 'window scraper' moulding when I asked what the technical name was!). Renault don't have them and I can't seem to find any on line, so does anyone have any ideas for this please. Thanks.

That looks like a lower spec Clio fog light to me

As for the window scrapers, which ones do you need? I've got some good ones spare but they're for the inside of the car

LeeB

Hi, yes the fog light is not OEM and whilst it looks like it would fit the hole the lens doesn't look like the right shape to me.

For window scrapers, I need the ones for the outside of the doors. Thanks.

Lee, the one above is wrong...

These are the style you need to source for your W2.... unfortunately they are showing out of stock, maybe worth a phone call though.

I've just received 4 genuine fog lights from a customer of mine who is a Renault dealer and a full original exhaust with all clamps etc etc - he sourced the lights from Germany. I'm a very happy man.

Think I may keep the 2 spare lights though just in case.

Very nearly ready! Still needs buffing and badges etc. and those elusive fog lights and door trims I'm after.

Thanks, I had the biggest smile on my face when I saw it (it's fresh from the paint booth in the photo - they'd just put the bumpers and wings back on) worth every penny and wished I'd done it sooner....not sure why I didn't really!

Hi all, photos of my car just back from the body shop, needs detailing now e.g. New number plates, clean up the side mouldings (and I'm still searching for weather strips/seals for the doors and some new fog lights). It's been good to see a few other cars on here also getting finished, has spurred me on!
