Hello

I'm in MOT emissions hell again and the idle is running high all the time. Cleaned the idle control valve and replaced coolant temp sensor still running high.

I want to replace the idle control valve but Renault say NLA and I don't want to put a second hand one on really.

It looks like a Bosch 0280140501 but that's specced for an 80s 911 and priced accordingly £300 nos ffs. And sitting on a shelf in Portugal.

Does anyone know an alternative number?

Many thanks.

I'd say it's best to leave threads like this on the technical section. Quite a few of us are battling such issues - it's much easier to find a solution in a dedicated thread, than going the the hundreds of car specific threads :(

I'd agree with mrodz. In my case, it was the throttle position sensor causing havoc.

There are a fair few used idle valves around, but as it was made for so long and they do foul up, I looked around for a new pattern part, and found http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/PORSCHE-911-IDLE-AIR-CONTROL-IACV-1984-1994-PORSCHE-REPL-0280140501-/253062895687?epid=1044827525&hash=item3aebb95847:g:uQ4AAOSw-jxZd0OS. Please note I never bought it, just might save someone some time and money some time.

(There is a £40 one direct from China; who knows WHAT you are buying these days)
