Hello all,

I have just joined as I am looking to find a Clio Williams to buy with a budget of £6000 max.
I live in Southampton but am willing to travel for the right car.
If anyone knows of a nice car up for sale around this price please let me know. I have the money waiting.
Ive had a good look around the forum and must say I've found it very useful and informative.
I am looking for a car to keep tucked away in my garage that will just come out when the weather is nice and be enjoyed.

Please please someone find find me one for sale that is decent.

Regards

Ben

welcome to the forum mate. you have plenty of other members on here from round your neck of the woods.. i owned a williams 3 for 8 years and got rid of that for a williams 1 which ive had for 6 years now.... couldnt begin to imagine looking for one now, what with the prices rising... i paid the princely sum of £1,100 for my williams 1 back in 2011 :) yes it needed work, but well worth it :)

Hi,

I'm not going to list on a public forum the bits that put me off as I don't think its fair to Andreas. It could be the right car for someone. Just not for me.

If you want to know for personal reasons then pm me on here and i'll get back to you.

For what Ben wants is going to cost him as he has realised after looking at a couple, and we both agreed that mine was priced well but he wants one that had less work, yeah mine still needs alloys a few other bits but for 4.5 k for one that has mot and belts done I'm not letting go for less would rather keep it. I give him credit he didn't come to push me down it just wasn't for him. Good luck with the search Ben.

Ben B

Yep agree with above.
Andreas it was a pleasure to meet you. As said it just wasn't for me.
Cheers mate. Hope you find the right buyer soon.

The price of the 4starclassics car is mental.
Mental but not unrealistic though. It's also a bargain compared to the 2 W2's that sold just over a year ago, both for over £22k and 1 of them was bought at auction by the dealer that sold it for just over £15k.
Ok they were lower mileage but the precedent has been set to take the best ones into the 5 figure values now, which inevitably has an effect on those ones a bit lower down in the pecking order.

My biggest regret is not buying more when I had chance. Should have bought every sub £1000 Williams out there!

Ben B
13-03-2017, 22:24
Same as when mk1 escorts were £100 in the back of the local paper.
Hindsight is a mega thing.

Cheers Northy.
I am now proud to announce I am now the owner of PTA.
I am so glad I held out for this car. And so glad Simon sold it to me.
I am also extremely pleased that you have given it your seal of approval Northy.

How was your drive home?

Ben B
16-03-2017, 14:50
Not the greatest mate if i'm honest. The car was faultless. Really chuffed with it.
But I left Warrington, got onto the M6 and then sat at a snail's pace all the way to Sandbach for 2 hours.
Birmingham was also busy as hell.
Overall took me 6.5hrs to get home to Southampton.
I had quite a few people on the journey home giving me a wave and a thumbs up though which is always nice.

PS, do you know where i can get a new roof mounted aerial from?
I only need the finishing piece that sits around the base of the aerial but i fear that it may just be easier to buy a whole new unit.
Also, do you know if scuttle panels are available. The plastic has sunfaded and started going white ish in colour?

northy
16-03-2017, 16:50
You can restore the colour of the scuttle panel using back to black from Halfords or silimar to this https://www.amazon.co.uk/Gtechniq-Permanent-Trim-Restorer-15ml/dp/B004JNPTP0

Aerial - Yours should be this style from what i remember - Phase 2.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/RENAULT-CLEO-19-MEGANE-LAGUNA-KANGOO-AERIAL-BASE-656110-/272591024443?hash=item3f77b0f13b:g:yJEAAOSwrklVYcx h

But did yours had the earlier phase 1 type aerial on it?

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Renault-Clio-Megane-Scenic-FRONT-roof-aerial-antenna-BASE-new-/361616526579?hash=item5432064cf3:m:mt6mOFiiMurca9i 6QzmAGVw

I would go with the Phase 2 one.

Thats some drive in rush hour aswell.

You should have gone for some Tea to let the traffic quieten off then get cracking. Least it has kept its cool in traffic which is a good sign.

If you bought the Phase 1 aerial that is wrong for your car.

You need the Phase 2

[QUOTE=Ben B;437699]Also, do you know if scuttle panels are available. [QUOTE]

no, there was one left side available from france a few years back when i enquired about it.. about 70/80 per side i think they were..

Ben B
19-03-2017, 15:52
I'm going to have a go with the G4 stuff first and see how we get on with that first.
On another note, the aerial is fixed using the original aerial base but using the new rubber gasket that came with the new aerial.
Happy days.
