Rear Beam Bushes - are the R5 & Williams the same rear bush for the rear beam?

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/RENAULT-5-GT-TURBO-NEW-REAR-AXLE-TRAILING-ARM-RUBBER-BUSH-SINGLE-TORSION-BAR-X-1-/232159198619?&_trksid=p2056016.m2516.l5255 (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/RENAULT-5-GT-TURBO-NEW-REAR-AXLE-TRAILING-ARM-RUBBER-BUSH-SINGLE-TORSION-BAR-X-1-/232159198619?&_trksid=p2056016.m2516.l5255)

Will this fit to Williams rear beam and how will I get it out? Burn it? and, how does one "fit" the new one in, and secure it?

Thanks,

Hi Andrew, I spent ages looking into this and ended up with the conclusion that they are NLA.
I even got to the stage of sending my axle off to a specialist to have the bushes replaced as I just couldnt find them, however the guy after being adamant that he could get hold of the correct bushes contacted me after receiving the axle to say that they were not the same.
He then said that the bushes were in very good condition and really didnt need to be changed. To be fair I had no movement from the bushes and they did look good, I was just going down the line of "I've gone this far, why stop now"
Someone else may come up with a different response, just make 100% sure whatever you source is correct before you remove the old ones.
Just one last point, Renault originally supplied the bearing pre installed into the bearing carrier (Or rear axle mount to me), one side was still available from Renault when I checked. They may still have it, it was pretty expensive at the time!
Good luck,

you can press off the mounting arm from the axle, but as far as new bushes ive not seen one yet.

I am happy to try get some made up though

Yeah I need a pair to. I will have a look as I have a set of Renault 5 gtt bushes see if any different to the ones on there

I can get solid ones from Bordanova - http://www.boutique-bordanova-sport.com/clio-williams-gra-et-grn-et-f2000/train-arri%C3%A8re/

Might be easier, but am not sure how long they would last for.

Northy - any idea on cost / timelines on that kind of thing - I was thinking of contacting Powerflex, but they would need the whole beam I think, as they aren't "removable" per se.

Any idea how they are "fixed" is there a recess they they press fit into?

never took one out but i have taken the arm off the rear axle.

The arm is just a press fit onto the axle. It did take alot of pulling though to get it to move.

I think i would have to destroy a arm to see how the bush is fitted - i would bet they are 'moulded' into the arms.

I think the only thing to do is for me to buy a pair and see, OR to ask the seller if he has others buying for a Valver/Williams.

I have a spare rear beam, but I would much rather actually replace / repair the item while I have everything off the car.

Regarding the rear axle bushes, or any of the bushes on the car for that matter, this looks interesting, well worth a watch;

I will be sending them down to Powerflex regardless. :winkey: I thought that you had someone else in mind.

I'll have a chat with the guys over the coming days.

You know of this company Andrew? They are based in Australia.
http://www.superpro.com.au/why-superpro/find-my-bush-size
Might they be able to help?
The metal shell bush looks like it would be the right one, just short on internal dimensions now 😳

I have purchased a pair of them as a mule, given that everyone else seems to have no factual basis. ;-)

"Taking one for the team" - Love it.

I did something similar when I was looking at the rear axle, I bought 3 different bushes that were listed as being suitable for the Williams, none of them were. Better luck with your investigations.

Out of interest which bushes have you gone for?

The ebay link that I send.

The guys selling them (GT Turbo Spares) was shite, and didn't answer any of the questions that I asked on email - I think he just wants the sale, no support or owt.

Hey Andrew,
After looking at images of the R5 GTT running gear, I'm convinced that the rear beam is exactly the same, if you look at the image of the R5 rear axle below its exactly the same as the Williams one.
Did you buy the bushes you were looking at?
Will be interesting to hear how you get on,

It might be worth me speaking to Powerflex and sending them the beam & these new bushes down to see what they can make up.

I'll have a look at it next week.

The GT Turbo spares guy, came back with a Cross Referenced Renault part number of ; 7700807180 (http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/RENAULT-5-GT-Turbo-9-11-REAR-AXLE-TRAILING-ARM-BUSH-7700807180-/302140022318?hash=item4658f2de2e:g:a1wAAOSw~bFWFmS G)

So the question is, it the 1.8 16v Rear Beam and the Williams rear beam the same - from memory it is, but maybe Northy, or Mat Brown can provide.

Exactly the same according to Dialogys

Thing is, I can't get a part number for the bushes from Dialogys as it's not there on the drawings and that part number you put up doesn't exist according to my copy

confirming here, there is no visable option to get these bushes separately from renault, maybe the come already pressed to either item 1, 6 or 7..

13-12-2016, 21:15
Thanks. You see where I am going with this, as dialogys is giving me the same answers as you. But research is telling me otherwise.

What about the question of is the rear beam on the valver the same as a williams.
And
Is the rear beam on a williams the same as on a 5gtt.

16v_paddy
13-12-2016, 21:36
Valver & Williams rear beams are exactly the same, R5 is a different part number

y0z2a
13-12-2016, 23:29
Cool.

So based on the part number list I shared on the previous page, it would appear that these bushes will fit the Williams.

I will update once I have tested.

Gonna throw a spanner into the works here, managed to find this which sort of contradicts what you've found so far so now I'm really confused
