Looks very promising. Lots of aerodynamic trick bits and may be a six speed box. :P

I actually really like the look of it. Good to see bespoke bodywork for the performance models. :P

The interier won't be quite as strong as its been seen in some pictures.
Looks very good though. I'm tempted to maybe get one. IF it were dci I would definatly do it. (Renault Uk don't take any notice though).

Will the bucket seats in the back make it to the final production model?

Zollo
07-09-2005, 17:40
Doubt it very much.

Lets hope the 330mm discs and Brembo calipers, six speeder, eighteens and rear diffuser do though

Nope its going to get normal back seats.
The rear deflecters there plus the 6 speed box, its the one used on the 105hp Modus with different ratios so if you want to know whats thats like go drive the 105 modus (its a good car). The gearbox is a Nissan/Renault designed box from new 240Nm strenght so its got future proofed covered.
18's arn't comming I don't think same for the brakes I think they might be one of those uprade letter in life cars but I'm not sure. Its using 5 hub wheels probably from the Megan parts bin so the Megan brakes are probably these.

The handling is set to be even better with this car the chassic going to be better than Cuped 182's as stock. The rear deflecers threre for looks but since the cars got fat it probably needs some help to make up its track performance big wide wheels will help along with wider track.

The probelm is that lowering it might affect the chassic/under floor ground effect.

I know it perhaps won't appeal to the purists (read hardcore, if it suits) amongst us, but I think it will be ****ing ace and will seriously consider buying one.

Only problem is, if you buy one of the first, how long will it take renault to bring out another model/version of it? It'll be old hat in 6 months . lol.

I would not consider myself a purist or hardcore, I simply can't get that excited, is it me or all cars starting to look the same?....I know aerodynamics play an ever increasing role in car design nowdays, maybe I am old fashioned, but to me manufacturers rarely improve the looks of any new model ie new 3 series, clio Mk2, pug 206, VW golf. Perhaps arguably Ford with the focus replacing the escort did achieve some success.

Don't get me wrong..ABS..EBC..CBC...Xenon's...airbags...all good stuff, but in a GTi or Hot hatch surely its " Raw appeal" that gets lost in translation. I know things move on.....deep and heavy sigh, sometimes, just sometimes....must be getting old

Nick, I'm really sorry to say, but that is something my dad would say. And something I'll say in 30 years time I'd imagine. Sign of the times.

(And any younger person that agrees with him - you're getting old before your time)

^^^^<snigger>

I'd not have one as a proper driving tool. Newer cars will never compete with more pure older cars, but I'd certainly consider one as a daily runner.

Zollo you cheeky young whippersnapper  you honestly believe that anyone one of the cars that I have mentioned have improved in looks :?

205 Gti v 206Gti
VW Golf 1-2 v Mk 4-5
Mk 1 Clio v Mk2
BMW E36 v current model
306 v 307

Your having a laugh

Although I'll agree on the Golf and the 306. But the others have vastly improved imho. Guess i'm just not old enough to have rose tinted specs...lol.

I almost entirely agree with Nick, except I would substitute the e30 for any other BMW, barring maybe the hot e28 5 series models.

Modern cars generally leave me unfulfilled and I dislike every single kind of driver aid, even thugh modern abs systems have come on a long way from our Clio ones.

No car should "need" traction control, although just about everything seems to have it these days. If you cant develop a proper chassis to harness the power, and have to mask it by slapping power restricting aids onto it. Then, either make the chassis better, or dont build the car.

The one major step manufacturers seem to have taken in the last 2-3 years, is finally sticking some decent brakes onto their performance cars.

He he, sorry Nick. Above are very true (apart from the E36 being better than the E46. I'm with the younger model there). Personally I mostly prefer older 80s cars, but I wouldn't agree cars in general are looking the same or getting uglier. For example ....

Mk3 Escort v Focus
Evo I v Evo IX
Audi 80 v 2005 Audi A4
Volvo 240 v Volvo V50
TVR Tasmin v TVR Tuscan

cheers m8...think I just used hue/sat and selected red instead of master....sometimes doesn`t work as well as that. Sometimes I use the Replace colour function...click on the colour to change and away you go...you can use the fuzziness bar to widen the change
