Very nice, both road ready too eh.
I have a little catching up to do, The williams is not too far off now though, not done anything to the GTi yet apart from a change of fluids.

Hi Winters, Just to show you that I am a little behind where you are with the 205 at the moment, please find the latest image of the car.
After it standing for a few years before I aquired it we flushed the old fuel out of the system (which was more like parafin than petrol), changed the fuel filter and then put some injector cleaner through the system, after which it held a steady tick over. Somethin that it didnt want to do when first started up.

We also drained the coolant and flushed the system through, clearly this hadn't been done for some time as it was pretty mucky.
The bonnet was removed as one of the mounting bolts had siezed and snapped (a common problem with GTi's) and this also helped to give us excellent access to the engine bay.

That will be it for a while now as I need to finish the Williams before doing anything to the 205, fluids change was just to make sure that the car was not going downhill whilst it was being stored. The car is solid but tatty looking as someone had started to sand down the roof and then left it. The plan for the car is to give it a good going over (nothing like the Williams though)and then get it ready for some retro fun along with the Williams.

Lovely cars chaps.

Damn, I'm defiantly going to have to add to my collection! I've been on the spy for a 1 owner low mileage 182 Cup for my next one, once I've convinced the wife I NEED one :yap:

Sounds like you have enough on your hands already Paul.
If however you were successful with the Mrs would you not be better going for a 182 Trophy a low mileage on of those would be very nice and have additional exclusivity over the Cup 💥

My Mrs also does not understand why I need so many cars.....

Haha, nor mine. She is very understanding to be fair to her.

I'm don't have much love for the trophy, I don't know why. I loved my 182 Cup (Metallic blue) and should never have sold it. The good thing is, the wife likes driving the Williams and she also loved driving the 182...i'm going for the right 'angle'!

Having said that, she recently said she wants a red car (seriously), so a Trophy may be an option :-k

^^I had a snapped Achilles so had no choice as I wanted to take the car out, plus she's actually a very switched on driver (although I'd never say that to her)!

The F-I-L won't let his Mrs drive his classics though (Stag & MGB GT), so I see your point!

Why the problem with the Trophy Paul?
I thought that the Trophy was basically the 182 Cup with trick suspension, or do you just not like red cars?

I really don't know what my problem is TBH. I prefer the Blue, xenon headlights, climate control, better radio and the normal anthracite colour wheels.

The 182 would be more of a driver, than to hold value. We'll see, I've enough on my plate with 285 at the moment anyway!

To be fair I think I've nearly broken the floor of every vehicle I've driven after the Williams on the first gear change.
