Hi all,

as title says. My steering feels vague and a bit non existant lol!

Could the steering column need welding? if so, anyone got a pic of where and is it easy to do? Or maybe the bushes are worn? Are these available still? if not, where the hell do you do?! lol

pics would be handy cheers!

things to check would be ball joints, play in the track rod arms (where they join to the rack).. as for the column 7440 the top column and the bit circled is where they get welded up.. its basically welding the inner shaft bit to the outer bit so it cant twist/move inside..

Yeah, i've checked all the ball joints etc. Jacked the wheels up and given them a good wobble to see. Hence why im now thinking steering rack related.

Cheers for the pic, thats Brillant! Looks a pain in the arse to do! Especially as my car is complete! dont really fancy ripping it apart!

It's a piece of piss to get the column out :winkey:

Take the plastic steering cowling off & you'll have access to the nuts that hold the column onto the car then you just need to undo the 13mm nut that secures the column to the rack which you can get to from the drivers wheel arch with a long enough extension
