PAS TO NON PAS

I got a question for you all, would extending a PAS Steering Column and welding up with possibly a plate welded ether side be ok and if so how much do I extend it by?
I was sold a PAS Column even when I asked specifically for a Non Pass Column I ended up not knowing until today putting the new one against the original one and realising its the same in length.
Very frustrating.

What do I do, Modify and weld up or try and get hold of a NON PAS Column and then weld that one, due to the Joints always going loos lol?

Any ideas that will be Safe and not a risk would be great.

P.S. The welded one is not my welding lol but dose show the joint that often needs welding up.

Best off with getting the right column as it also does away with the joint that's prone to failing

Just been sold anther Column, Non Pas, So Happy Days.
Gone to fit it and find it’s got a buckle in the starring.
So must have been slightly bent in a car crash or something.
So back again for a 3ed one now.
