Will do asap
Had number 114 and sold it in '98
Haven't forgiven myself until yesterday
Should be picking her up next week and will post pics then
Test drive yesterday and still smiling
Did the engineers really know fully what they were creating 20 years ago?

ianbirch

Do you know what happened to your 0114 as there is only a left hand drive in the register which I presume is a duplicate number?

Regards Ian

daljk

Not sure what happened to it
did they release numbered versions in France too? As on the register 114 is in France

Yes some of the numbers are duplicated... unless your one was left hand drive:winkey:

Hi mate

It was great A14/M11 but it chucked it down caught a train out to Norwich to collect from a great guy who had a few other classics. I noticed the car pulls straight in all gears however didn't push it the rev limiter. Last weekend I noticed 50-100 was stunning and so easy. What I love is its original as possible it's had some rear wheel arch welding but the interior is stock with original door cards, suit carrier, and blaupunkt radio. The code for the stereo was even on the delivery paperwork. Only worry is a few panel gap issues on drivers side front wing and a flexing noise from the sill/ door on that side. Overall still smiling

Not much to be concerned about. Pop it into a bodyshop to have a tweek. Remove your rear quarter interior panels and have a look at the condition inside the sills. How many miles are on it? Just to let you know, I'm still smiling every time I drive mine and that's after 5 years of ownership 😉

Very cool, especially the shots at the petrol station.

You must check the rev limiter works. They're getting old now, you need to check. It's a safety thing.

daljk
21-11-2015, 13:25
Cheers mate

Will check the rev limiter works too
The petrol station lights make the car look really good if you want to take some pics.
The other pics were at the vendors btw so, no, I don't own a caravan lol!
The cars just missing a heat shield so I'm being very careful at the moment

You have a knack of catching the car at the right angles, your images look great and show all the right bulges which give the car its aggressive look 👍

Just pulled the cover over W3 bloody rear wiper fell apart that following driving over a cattle grid yesterday and overhead light cover fell off. I don't seem to love them as much as I did but I'm losing patience. One more thing and I may be gone forever

Stick with it, you'll only regret getting rid. Those are minor, repairable things on a 20+YO car.

Just a moment of impatience

That's nothing pal. I have been using my w3 as a daily drive these last few weeks. Getting wet from leaky sunroof isn't fun but kids think it's ace. Lots of laughter on way to drop them off in the morning. I can only fuel a small amount at a time as the seal on the top of the tank needs replacing and fills the car with petrol fumes if it's full , been like this since 2010. I have an annoying ticking coming from the car when moving, again always done this despite new disc/pads and tyres. Front wheel bearing humming, rusty arches, rusty sills, passenger remote locking in-op. Stone chip city on front bumper and bonnet, but guess what, I wouldn't have it any other way, the fun and enjoyment from this car is amazing.

I get that ticking too, pretty sure it's the speedometer cable. Fuel problem wince 2010? Book it in for a check in 2020, if you think it needs it.

Daljk, with you all the way, I've been using my van a lot recently, runs well, never even checked tyre pressures on it, it works, it passes MOTs, all that.

Then I take the Williams out and it fades away.

Gaffer tape will sort both the light (the little clippy bits fail; mine has had end bits filled in with Araldite by a previous owner which help) and the rear wipe neither of them are MOT items.

The moral of the story is simple: never hit a cattle grid at less than 100mph I hope you have learned your lesson.

Paul, Ayli and Weekend
It's like a naughty terrier that just keeps wagging its tail. I see its eyes always wanting to go out for a blast and your heart melts and you forgive everything!
I've shouted at my sons as they slam the passenger seat up and down "this car is fragile!!" But to no avail. We are slowly running out of plasticiser!
I had the whole sunroof removed and re-sealed including headliner etc, work done by Mark Fish. Totally waterproof now. Have to say the W1 is fun but W3 in the sunshine is lovely with roof open
