After passing my driving test some 27 years ago I have always had a love for sports/hot hatch cars.

Here's a list of cars I have owned throughout the years (I will not list every car I have owned, just my favorites so will not include the Bright RED Nissan Cherry i purchased!???)

From earliest to present.

MK1 XR2 - Silver pepperpot alloys - I loved this 4 speed 84Bhp, 0-62 10secs motor. A little beast in its day, hung onto corners like it was on rails and in my opinon was and still one of the best hot hatches ever made.

My first Renault

Renault 5 GT Turbo - Tungsten Grey - My first love for Renaults! - 120Bhp, 0-62 7secs. The power that came from the 1.4 Turbo engine was amazing. My party trick 'while entertaining the lady passengers' was to boot it from a standstill which would force the pullout car stereo to eject from its compartment which i could catch it while driving the car :winkey: (not reccommended you try this! come on I was only young). I was always envious of the special blue limited edition Raider but was a little out of my price range.
Renault Clio 1.8 16V -I fell in love with this car when I first clapped eyes on it, the shape, those wide arches the and the performance was awesome - I had quite a few runs from Leeds to Liverpool in it over the 3 years I owned it and never let me down. While owning this I was again was soooo envious of the Williams with the gold wheels but at the time was out of my price range' but always knew one day I would own one.
MK3 Golf GTI 16V - Bright Red 2ltr 180Bhp 0-62 8secs. Unfortunatley this usually reliable car ended up costing me a fortune, lots of engine problems, breakdowns etc.. guess just had a bad one. It did put me off buying VW's in the future though.
Renault Clio 172 Cup - The first brand new car i had ever owned bought straight out the showroom from Renault Leeds, had it 2 days and my girlfriend at the time scrapped both alloys, needless to say of course she was soon to be my ex after that incident. I loved this little blue flying machine but always thought it was missing something screaming in 5th gear, just need that bit more!!

Family then came along and I had a raft of sensible cars for a few years including a Black pimped ouy Mitsubshi Shogun, the first and probably only time i had it in 4 wheel drive was when I parked slightly on the grass while at a wedding!

Ford Focus ST - A super fast 2.5 5 cylinder Volvo gowling engine. Bought this car while been sent out by the wife to buy a family estate the Audi A4 Avant was her preference! What can I say once a boy racer always a boy racer :winkey: of course this did not go down too well when i rolled up the drive but after a promise to decorate the whole house she soon forgive me. I owned the car 14 months, it was good to me but a company car was on the horizon so it had to go.

So recently now having 2 sensible(ish) cars in the home my passion for the Williams came back with a vengence and in May this year I went out and purchased one! This is my garaged weekend toy that I have been polishing almost daily, been totally obssessed with for the last few weeks. I take it out when its not raining of course with a grin on my face from ear to ear absolutley LOVE IT... the boy racer days are back!!! I even took on a kid in Fiesta ST at the lights last weekend and loved it... haha the 90's are back baby ...... LOL!!

PS... the wife obviously keeps asking why the hell have i bought an old car!!?? .... 'you'll never understand darling, you'll never understand' was my response... I'am 44 going on 24 and love the Williams.

Lets hear what cars you lot have owned in the past.

Cheers

Oooh nice :) What ST is that?

My Williams is from Renault Leeds as well

Before that I had a 1994 Peugeot 106 Rallye S1 in cherry red. Super simple car and very spritely, the exhaust didn't connect to the cat properly because of a prior bodge-job, but it made a fantastic noise without the need of a stupid muffler and popped in downshifts. Not very fast, 100bhp made it 0-60 in 9.6 secs and tops out at just 110, but it held the road well and you could feel everything thanks to the lack of power steering (and lack of everything else)

Meanwhile the Willy is the car the Rallye always tried to be, a suped-up special edition early 90s French compact. It always turns heads and gains attention (and budding street racers) and is surprisingly responsive in every aspect.

My dream car as a child was a Suzuki SC100GX, got the brochure, could never understand why my Mum wouldn't buy one.

I bought one as my first car, loved it, drove it all around the country, still have it 'awaiting restoration' as they say. Everything else has been a bit of a letdown.

We'd had a Renault 4 when I was a child, always loved French cars, so after a 405 and a 205 and a Fiat Coupe and (in particular) a Honda Beat (fantastic car), I needed a winter banger for the old 911 I had, and my back hurt and I googled 'most comfortable car seats' and Clio Williams kept on coming up, and there was one for sale ten miles away.

Selling the 911 tomorrow.

PS you may not drive it in the rain, but it's great in the snow.

... whoops, that's a Suzuki van in those pics. (How did that get there?)

The SC100 is more like https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Suzuki_Cervo#/media/File:Suzukiwhizzkid.jpg

Thanks for comments. I used to love those Ford pepperpot alloys.

g'day.

1992 - first car. a 1.1litre xr2 bodied shed of a fiesta. lasted 3 months. had no compression and mostly flooded when trying to start. worst #350 I ever spent.
1992. Vauxhall cavalier 1.8 sri. really nice on the motorways. a bit heavy. prone to overheating.
1995. Renault 5 gti turbo. black. original. so much fun. ended up being broken into when I received my first company car. didn't want to sell this.
1998. company cars. Vauxhall astra 1.8 sport. then a nova sri 1.8. then a ford focus 1.8 diesel estate (a plodder).
2005. Renault clio Williams. liked It so much, it came with me to oz in 2009.
2009. holden astra 1.8 3 door. daily drive. very reliable. the Renault is still going strong. parked up this winter - as I have just bought a new house and im saving hard. she will be back on the road feb 2016.

:)

Started off with a mk1 fezza which I screwed with an inch of its life but was killed by somebody pulling out in front of me.
Then a Nova SR the most unreliable rustiest piece of crap I ever bought. Was going to buy a 205 gti had a few test drives but it was early nineties and insurance had gone stupid £5000. So ended buying 405sri, same engine but I was doing 60 miles a day had a girlfriend who liked shagging in the back. I had 2!! Great all round car but had several crashes so bought a 306 d sport tuned lowered it was a go kart it also liked to spin especially in the wet. It wasn't fast enough and I was missing raw speed and fun which brings me to my clio. Still 1 of the most fun cars I've ever driven
I've also co-owned a GT Racing car and a tuned up vx220 turbo with nitron suspension, this beast took me to 160mph + but the handling was the best bit. I've also owned Civic Type R. Great n/a engine but no Clio Williams
