View Full Version : Help with the age old question of value for a great Williams 1

As you might know I am on the look out for a Williams (1) and just want to be certain that I dont over/under bid. Certainly value is in the eye of the beholder willing to compete in a free market but knowledge of recent sales is a good help.

In an ideal world I will stumble on a near mint standard car that has low mileage and owners and a decent service history.

I base my current budget for this of £7500 +/- from the last couple of sales of cars that would have interested me..

No.55 which had 78k miles and went at auction recently for about £6,360

No. 133 which had 54k miles and is now sold from an asking price of £6,950

Do members think this is a fair budget. I know if one turned up with zero rust, 1 owner and everything near new with >20k miles then I should probably consider almost double but until that turns up is my budget right?

thanks!

I'd say that's a very realistic number for today's market & the right car in the right condition

Agreed - prices of good condition cars are steadily rising and I think your budget is realistic. Don't be a afraid to hold out for the right car (there are still some coming out of the woodwork), but bear in mind that most low mileage cars are now owned by enthusiasts and don't often come on the market.

Good luck with your search :)

I know I know... please don't rub it in. Serves me right for messaging the seller rather than just picking up the phone!

Where are you located?....could be worth a look, Vandella noticed the boot sticker is in the wrong position. Should be easy to redo it though.

Just picked up a low mileage 3 today and loving it! Go and look at a few if you can just to get your eye in. As said where you based?

I live in North London.
To be honest I think I would want a car with a few less miles but perhaps over time I might change my mind.

Persuaded Bill to part with this one, its in lovely condition so just a few bits that need some attention which I'm looking forward to get sorted and make a real minter.

I saw that one and was very tempted by this 3 but assumed its not for sale.

It was for sale then Bill took it off the market after shelling out for the cambelt but luckily he gave in and we negotiated a deal.
