Best finish will be obtained using 2-pack paint, but as long as the metal is prepared correctly and given 3-4 coats of primer getting a decent finish with spraycans isnt that hard.

so if i go and get some materials wot exactly do i need, does this sound rite?

2pack paint in my preffered colour? 1 can of?

metal primer?

does the cover need to be prepared, ie cleaned?

laquer?

wot about the heat from engine?

Just need to decide on a colour at your local motor factors. Get a tin of primer, tin of colour and a tin of laquer (if you use a metallic paint). Degrease and pressure wash the rocker cover (once off the car) and prep it with 400 wet&dry for the primer and 800-1000 wet&dry for the topcoats.
