...a job that requires you to remove the slam panel, take off the fan and pull the radiator fan forward every time you do and oil change? It surely can't be that badly designed? Surely?

Go from underneath & use a suitable tool. I usually manage ok with an old fashioned chain type tool & by ok I mean without much loss of blood :lol:

Just changed mine recently, only tool I used was my hand, engine was nice and warm, just got at it from the top at the drivers side. Wouldn't say it was easy but it certainly wasn't difficult.
