Having mainly only run cars that have been fun, great handling and reasonably quick it surprised my that I recently acquired this - I must be getting old! Thought I'd post it here for interest as it's probably quite different to the kind of thing most of us would ordinarily be drawn to.

Packs a 6.0 litre V12 engine, which is the only reason I bought it as was not shopping around for cars of this type before:

The interior is quite a special place to be though:

Picked up for about the same price as I bought my Williams for a few years ago. Not as much fun but a whole lot of metal (and wood!) for the money. Interesting to consider the depreciation curve too - this was made within a few months of my Williams and whilst I think that was ~£15k new this Daimler was being sold for £60k+

Nice one Steve! You need a chauffeur for that.

How's #295 looking? the same as when I sold it to you?

looking good mate - certainly is different from the cars you normally own.

How does the current fleet line up at the minute?

Hi. Unexpected thread resurrection after a few years! 295 is going well thanks - pretty much the same as when I bought it from you with a few mechanical issues sorted out and some minor improvements here and there (e.g. new parcel shelf)

Pretty much the same as you last knew as the Daimler was the last thing I bought, so current line up is:

Interesting stuff: Porsche 911 (996) GT3, BMW M5 (tow car), Daimler Double Six, Subaru Impreza WRX STI v.4, Subaru Impreza WRX STI v.6 Type-RA Limited, Clio Williams, Clio 16v track car (stripped, F7R on bodies), Joyner 650, BMW 540i Touring
Not interesting stuff: Honda Accord 2.4i Exec (family workhorse), Golf 1.6 (my sister's old car - used for driving lessons for the kids in the field, although my 12-year old has moved onto the Impreza now and wants to stick with that!), Honda Accord 1.8 (given to me by in-laws, keeping it as a spare as it is auto which my wife prefers driving)

You are welcome any time mate - as suggested before ;-) With a bit of planning though we could synch it up with some other event locally to go and see some good car stuff where you can get even better 'piccies'.

I've always wanted to go to 'classics at the castle', if you are interested, which is a few miles down the road and this guy has some good photos from a previous year: http://www.cumbriancarnut.com/classics-at-the-castle-hedingham-pre-73-porsche-event-7th-sep-2014/. Usually on around September time, but don't know the 2017 dates yet.

There are also open days at JD Classics a few times a year, which are well worth the visit if you have never seen before.

Also there may be a Warren Classic again this year, although I think they may still be thinking of only doing it every two years. It skipped 2015 but the 2016 event was the highlight of my motoring year...

On the day before the event the organiser asked some of us to join in on a little driving tour around Essex. We stopped off at a classic car dealer who I had visited many times before but had never previously had a tour of their workshops which were very impressive and I was surprised that they employ about 70 people restoring and maintaining various old Rollers and Bentleys:

Then it was off to the house of the owner of the venue. He made us very welcome and had a very impressive collection of cars, including a pukka Ford GT40 and a Veyron, Enzo and XJ220:

He had some interesting garden ornaments (including a Russian military helicopter!) and was kind enough to let me park on his lawn to get a nice photo with it:

Finally we drove back to the show venue to park the cars up ready for the show the next day and the car I followed all the way down, an AC Cobra, was driven by none other than Max Chilton (chap furthest to the left, with the baseball cap):

The weather was great too. What an enjoyable weekend!
