So the Willy 2 that ill be getting next weekend hasnt been used for two years so Id like to know what you guys would do in order to get it back on the road. Im thinking:

Service (full or just an oil change)
Check Tyre Pressures/walls for damage
Check brakes are in good working order
MOT
Tax

Anything Ive missed that you would look out for?

Yaaay you found a Williams at last :)
I would remove the spark plugs and crank the engine over, this will remove any load on the bearings at all and will be the most gentle way to circulate some oil around the engine and get that belt changed mate and give it a good service to

Cheers mate! Do you need to change anything else when doing the cambelt? With my 197 you had to do the aux belt and the water pump too along with two replacement Cam seals

you MAY get away with the oil pump..

http://renaultpartsdirect.co.uk/products/Renault-Clio-Williams-Water-Pump.html
http://renaultpartsdirect.co.uk/products/Renault-Clio-Williams-Thermostat.html
http://renaultpartsdirect.co.uk/products/Renault-Clio-Williams-Thermostat-O-Ring.html

im sure you can find cheaper parts that will do the job.. but depends how anal u r and how deep your pockets will go.. no idea on price of oil pump tho..

Personally I'd just rip the engine out & do everthing, clutch, cam belt, water pump, thermostat, carefully examine every single hose around the oil cooler area - but more than likely just replace the little fart arse ones as they're renault only parts.

Genuine belt kit on ebay pretty cheap http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Renault-Clio-Williams-Genuine-cambelt-kit-NIB-/221388473565?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&fits=Cars+Type%3AWilliams%7CModel%3AClio&hash=item338bc804dd

But there's bugger all wrong with a contitech belt kit either http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/CONTITECH-TIMING-CAM-BELT-KIT-FOR-RENAULT-CLIO-1-8-1991-1994-CT760K1-/230965978472?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&fits=Cars+Type%3A1.8+16V%7CModel%3AClio&hash=item35c6a52568

Bolloicks to paying rpd's price for a thermostat, cheap pattern 1 comes with a new o-ring as well, don't forget that most Renault parts are cheap pattern parts that are stuck into a renault box/bag & the price inflated just for that purpose.
Deffo worth getting the water pump from RPD though as it will have the metal impellers whereas most pattern parts have plastic ones & they just die pretty quickly

Ktec do a low temp stat.

Load of shit they are as well, normal stat is what's needed, the fuelling from the ecu is determined by what temperature the coolant is so fit the correct 1 for the car

Chris, when you say the cars not been used for 2 years, has the car not been turned over in this time at all? Or has it been allowed to tick over but just not driven?

Chris197F1

I think its been ticked over but not driven as its been SORN

You're missing the point a bit though, they're a gimmick that people seem to have been conned into over the years and worse is that people also seem to think it's a fix for overheating issues as well.
They're not the correct part for the car, you've not had any hassle that you've noticed but it's still wrong & your fuelling wont be right because of it

Ah I see. I wasn't aware of that tbh. I only changed mine to the low temp stat because I overhauled everything. Rad, expansion tank fan switch etc
