Gave the williams a drive round the block to blow out the cobwebs and charge the battery this afternoon and I was struck by how flat it corners on the coilovers and felt much more chuckable than the banana! Did'nt feel any slower either except when I tried flooring it in 3rd at 40mph...think coilovers are on the shopping list for sure I don't feel comfortable throwing the 16v into corners. The banana seems to torque steer more too probably due to the really good torque, but maybe the 45 profile tyres too? Almost wanna keep the williams now... :o

good plan! lol

but a williams on coilovers will always handle loads better than just a lowered 16v.

If i were to keep it then coilovers and williams track were on the shopping list for sure!

Martin hire a engine craine and we could swap it in a weekend, call in all the troops

Martin
28-02-2005, 18:31
Yeah I know its not exactly a fair test but its amazing how different the cars feel! Not sure as to whether to bother with willy track as it seems to be pretty expensive, was thinking of just coilovering the beast..Hmm??

Martin, having driven a standard Valver and Williams this weekend (quite a lot too) the Williams is in another league, both on standard suspension too. Where the valver loses traction completely the Williams is only approaching that same limit, with time to spare. There really is no comparison m8.

Winston-Tbh if my williams was mint I would seriously consider it.....BUT it is'nt! lol

Know what you mean Jesus..!

Martin, if I was completely honest I'd say you were mad for getting rid of all the interior etc in the first place out the willy, but now you have the chance to do what you want with a car. You could sell the Willy and put the money into the Banana and other things, or, you could get another Williams and swap the engines over... but there's not much point in that. The way I see it is you really have the best of both worlds. You have a car that you can make look how you want to and not get shit for it, plus it has the engine that most Clio owners only ever dream about. If I had that car the only things i'd do would be put Williams or valver interior in, a colour coded Williams/Valver spoiler (Willy one ideally) and then convert the track and take the coilovers off your other one and return that to stock... or run the valver on stock Williams track and setup. Either way, you have masses of options you lucky sod!

aye having driven both std valver and std williams its def worth having the wide track, feels so much more stable and easyier on the limit imo, also having coilovers on wide track would be fantastic! although im not running them no more back to std(kinda lol)

Get all those performance bits on the banana.

Coilovers, buckets, cage.

Then get on the phone to Paul at infini car and get yourself a new interior and get that Williams back as it should be. :D

Race the banana. Enjoy the Williams.

yeah, Rob's got a good point, if you can afford to keep the Williams just get it with some interior and keep it as a weekend car. You will be able to keep it MINT that way too and go racing in the yellow 1.2 :D

Youll get more for the Williams if you replace the standard bits too.

Martin

Winston

KingStromba

You wont get extra for the wheels on ebay, might as well sell them separately to make some extra cash.

Martin - just get rid of the williams fella, as the banana has better bodywork, engine, less milage, it's a valver so could be cheaper on insurance, already got loads done to it, inc fuel tank etc, then i'd just get rid of the williams, as you've never had much look with it straight from when you bought it and you had to get new williams wheels!

Then i'd,

Overspray the insides and engine bay black,
Get it re-mapped,
willy wide track and coilovers,

Then i think your about finished,

oh and new rear discs!!! I don't like rust!

Sounds a bit silly to say it but i think there is cars you have luck with and some you don't - your williams sounds like my 16v - always seemed to need something more and it was never quite as i wanted it!

That banana is bloody quick and looks in condition so i personally think you've scored. The only thing i'd be tempted to do is willy track it, spray it back it's original colour and slap some turbines on but either way its a minter...i'd be well chuffed if i was you! :)

01-03-2005, 20:19
Gotta keep it yellow and i love the wheels. Turbines won't go over them brakes anyway.

Agree with the spraying the insides and engine bay, satin black should do it

Craig

new rear disks and pads were fitted about 2 months back. not nure why they are rusty?

Martin
03-03-2005, 01:01
Had the same thing on my williams mate, no weight in the back means the rear discs don't do much work so they can get rust on them.

dannyt
03-03-2005, 10:12
You might as well keep them if they were only re-placed a couple of months back!

Can you not adjust the brake bias to work more evenly over the front and back even with less weight in?

Danny

Martin
03-03-2005, 19:33
yeah you can, don't want to adjust it too far though lol You know what happens then....

dannyt

i think i can recall what happened when i owned my RT and got clouds of blue smoke thrown at me!
