Service history or condition? Would no service history stop you buying a mint condition Williams?

I've got a Williams 1 which I bought a couple of years ago.It had been in storage for around 10 years,I asked about the history but the owner said he had it but didn't no where it was.the car has no rust at all and seems to have original rear arches and sills but would need a respray as paint is abit dull and has stone chips.just was wondering would it be worth spending for a full respray if people where put of with no history if I was going to sell.

Hmmm - let's see pics. Not sure id condone a respray. Amazing what a prof detail can do on old and faded paint.

Service history means precisely **** all imo, I could fabricate a service history really easily & use a potato as a service stamp.

I'd be getting a proper detailing freak to do their thing with the paintwork as you'd be astonished at what those guys can do

It's all about justifying the value imo. When you say service history do you mean a stamped book or proof of the work?

With every car I have I document all the work its had done in a folder so it's dosnt have service history in a service book but its a lot better and shows the car history.

Paint wise, keep it original i would rather buy one this way then you can judge it yourself. As said if its not got any rust a good paint detail would be better.

Are those wheels the right colour?

Yeah I don't think they've ever been painted.

The wheels look much of a bright gold to me.

If your after top money then you need history, depending upon the condition of the original car bodywork can be sorted easily if it's not been a total rust bucket.

I like to have both, the amount of williams that I looked at that just had a few scraps of paper put me off, if your looking at holding onto the car I think it's nice to have everything intact!

Picture was taken with an iPhone 4 so maybe the colors wouldn't be perfect.what about a car that's sitting all resprayed and looking mint but has had a load of metal cut out and welded in but has loads of paperwork,or would an original shell that has no rust or repairs to it but also has had a nice respray but no history be better?

really depends on the buyer mate, obviously an original shell is better that a repaired one.

Wouldn't get worked up about the wheels. Photo is poor quality - so hard to tell. Unless obviously wrong (you've been tangod) - I can't tell if wheels are right or wrong shade from pictures
