Hello,

I have just treated myself to a clio williams 2!

anyways my first job on the clio was to put original front springs back on the car as it had lowered apex ones on it.
in doing do the n/s drive shaft popped out and gearbox oil went everywhere !

my question is how do i refill my gearbox with oil and what oil should i use ?

any help would be much appreciated from a newbie to williams ownership !
thanks8)

The driveshaft just 'popped out'??
circlip issue??
front of the gearbox there is a plastic 'wing nut' type fill plug.
and oil, 80-90 gear oil i think. Ep5.

Hello and welcome,

I'd use ELF gearbox only. Recommended oils: ELF Tranself TRX 75w-80 or even more ELF Tranself NFJ 75w-80.

80w-90 would be too thick for a JC gearbox IMO.

That gator shouldn't come loose at all, there's supposed to be 3 bolts holding it in place

Have a word with Bass for your oil.

75w80

GL4 or 4+

GL5 is not required

Chears for the help guys I put 80-90 in as it was all I had at the time and needed to move the car I will get hold of some you recommended and change it soon.i fancy myself quite handy with engines and such but I understand specialist cars like the Williams require special attention. I am just starting out work on the Williams and its mechanicly very good but the arches are a little rusty as them often are and one or two bits need sorting so will be on here again in the not too distant future for you help im sure !
