Rac did my clutch cable at the side of the road in my volvo.

If your a member call them out, but just happen to have a spare in your glove box

Only about £19 from Renault and make sure you use genuine, easy enough if you tie the new one to the end of the old one to get the routing correct.
Don't forget to reset the rachet mechanism on the pedal.

exactly the same thing happened to me at a set of traffice lights in Ipswich!! the garage where I bought her from in Sudbury came out and towed her back [they are brilliant to me] FOC and got her sorted but it was a bugger to do - if I remember it was around £150 - they had to get at it from underneath I think.

Yes, easiest if done from underneath.

The ratchet mechanism is simple, as the cable or clutch wears the teeth slide along each other to allow the pedal to be in the same place, easy to reset, just pull them apart (spring loaded) and put them at the beginning, will probably moves loads straight away as the clutch will still be worn.

Pain in the arse to do. cables about £15 from renault. Dont forget to tie/connect the new cable to the old one for when you pull it throught the bulk head. Right pain in the arse otherwise. :D

then what?
do pull the old snapped cable back thru there?? and feed the new cable thru from the pedal? or do i feed the new one the from the clutch end? i will get the front end up on some ramps.

You dont need ramps. You need to unhook the cable in the pic and pull it from the box. Take off your heat shield and you should be able to see where it goes into the bulkhead to the pedal. Dont pull it stright out, try and attatch the new cable too it so you can pull it through with the old one. If that fails the tie some wire to the new one and thread that through. Tis a pain in the arse and you could really do with a mate to pull it through while you feed it in. Once its through, attarch to the pedal which also can be fiddly then route it all the way back to the box and have fun trying to get it back on that end. :D

That was the hardest bit, especially cos this was the 3rd cable, and the remants of the first were left in the space down there, so when that came out i thought i'd got it all, but didnt realise until I'd been fishing about for 20 minutes that the one i broke was blocking the path of the new cable......grrr.

nice one

my clutch cable snapped yesturday at 5.00pm, thought **** aint gonna be able to make the track day, fook fook fook...

drive to reno, ring gsf on route, no stock, reno no stock... so went and tried partco, got there just as they was closing, they had one! bingo! :D and its a much better fit than my old reno cable, and was so much easier to push thru the bulkhead aswell.... wonder how it will stand up though.

Have been reliably informed that snapped cable is a first sign of worn clutch. You get used to a heavy clutch so don't realise it but a renault specialist noticed mine was heavier than normal and so got local mechanic to change clutch and cable as was cheaper.

So if you have just snapped a cable. Think about a new clutch or carry a spare cable for when it happens next time.
