Door Mirrors - Mk1

Can anyone tell me if the rear of the door mirror (the painted blue bit) comes off?
I have a couple of new mirrors to fit and it looks like the blue bit needs transferring over.

Yes it comes off, there's a couple of tabs that stick out & clip into the mirror unit itself
