Firstly I would like to say a massive thanks to Jamie Crookston and his brother for viewing this Williams 2 for me this evening, the car was local to him so he kindly offered.

A few details on the Vehicle

Williams 2 - 91,000 miles
Full folder of history including original order form
2 Elderly owners from new in the same family
Interior is perfect all original including sterio
Sills and underneath are solid, engine bay is very clean
panels look true and doesn't appear to have ever been painted

The car has been stored for the last 5 years so it needs maintenance to get it through an MOT
To do;

Rear Arches
Cracked front bumper - which is currently off the car since it was trailered
I will be changing all fluids, doing cambelt, water pump and any other requirments for the mot
Full respray, I will be stripping the bodywork down myself ready for the paintshop

it is an honest car that I think is worth saving

Here are some pictures - let me know your thoughts, the front bumper is removed so that guy could get it home

glad to see you have finally got one - so what price did you pay for this?

That arch is nice - i would budget for new inner, outer arch, rear bumper mounting, inner sill, and outer sill repairs looking at that.

Thanks Guys. Northy I was going to put a post up to get some advice on the repairs, with regards to the sill what's the best method of replacing these? I didn't really want a rusty one but this seemed too good to turn down and worth saving. Paying £1300 for the car.

Budget around £1,200 for a decent arch & sill repair. This should cover both inner and outer. Pleased you have found a car... good luck with the resto....

Nice project! Looks good, 91k is low :)

Yeah there is a plenty of plus points.

I was trying to find a really good one but I suppose this will be fresh once finished!

It's a shame about the rust really, replacing the sill will be a bit of pain, do people usually have them fabricated? or can they be bought? sorry for my inexperience just getting started!

Well done good overall project, try shiply.com and pay the £3 for a featured advert, delivery price will be very keen, 2 elderly owners willl hopefully reap a good engine and gearbox...

Hopefully Jamie said it runs very sweetly, I think it might have had an easy life in that sense!

I will have a look on there, was hoping to just rent a truck or trailer to get it home, I just don't know anyone with a tow bar!

I got a 2 big boxes of a genuine renault sport maxi kit from the middle of france to Ireland for £170 and I've heard of people getting cars from Kent to Scotland for about the same price so give it a go, I've also got wheels and all sorts very reasonable, put up a project thread and let everybody know what your doing as a resto can be very expensive without proper advice and assistance.. Do it once and do it right would be my advice! Strip it back to bare shell, sand blast it and do a nut and bolt rebuild, will be right for many moons then... A quick refurb will come back to bite whereas a proper indepth one will be far more rewarding and feed your hobby far better,

I don't think it needs a full nut and bolt refurb, it's a good base. The guy who owns it wants me to go down to pay for the rest of the car after my deposit so I really need to rent something. I've had a few quotes from shiply of £160 and 165 which is a good price but I need to get up there aswell!

I didn't really want a rusty one but this seemed too good to turn down and worth saving. Paying £1300 for the car.

That price what with the rusty arches makes the one I sold 18 months a proper bargain ,both arches done about 5 years ago,by a Renault agent, new Outer AND Inner full panels.then before I sold it new cills, went with 6 months tax and 12 months MOT ,full Renault service history, down side I suppose was the mileage at 151,000ish.....could not sell or break it on here or eBay ....needed a more economical car and took just £1100 for it.
I remember seeing the invoices for the rear arch panel repairs £2465:90p !!!!!
In hindsight maybe I should have kept it :???: have fun with the restoration

This car has save me all over it, and at that it won't be a lot to get it back into a decent condition. The history (all more or less renault edinburgh) The low owner count. The imaculate interior, the low mileage, original!!!! I could go on and on. I'm so pleased Dean has bought this, and if he changes his mind......... I might just have to buy it myself...

Dean250

As jamie says this car has many plus points it just needs the bodywork sorting out.

my plans are at the moment;

New Brembo Brakes all around
Full service inc fluids
Belts

then for an MOT and what ever else is required to pass.

I need a new front bumper also if anyone knows of one!

The low owner count. The imaculate interior,
Jamie I was only the second owner of my car ,having bought it 4 years from new.I guess it must have a been a "recession type " period when I came to sell.....EVERYTHING on mine was 100% original ....save for a stainless exhaust.
Why have the wheels not got the polished lip ???

Dean250
12-05-2013, 21:25
The wheels need correctly refurbing, the car runs great and everything works well, just need to sort the bodywork and some maintenance!

From that description it sounds like a fantastic car. Like you said, honest. Well worth the money in my eyes. All the best with the work!
