anyone done one on the cheap, i.e. found a car in scrappy with same studs/nuts? did a quick search on ebay loads came up, not too costly I suppose, just wonder if they are any good

I've got the same as him, just put a note in there saying you're using alloy wheels so they send you 50mm studs :winkey:

Wouldn't bother sourcing from a scrappy. The studs are only a quid each, so cheap enough already for brand new stuff.

If you buy open ended nuts as well then you can keep the same setup regardless of any wheels you use in future, or adding/removing spacers, so worth it for the extra flexibility it gives you.
