hi,

I've got a scorpian middle section (centre of pic) and was going to fit my magnex rear box onto it somehow! only thing that is missing is the bracket near the cat on the scorpian (see 2nd pic). i was told by a garage ages ago that to weld onto s/s is difficult. is this true? anyone had experience of welding s/s and basturdising a scorp&magnex together?? :D

its not difficult u just need some1 that has the right welder to do it, most garages dont.

^^What he said, need a TIG welder, as opposed to a MIG welder whihc most garages have, TIG welding is alot alot harder to do.

Local powerlow dealer will be able to do it, or a local metal fabricators

I'd weld that with the mig no problems. You can get proper stainless mig wire as well but I really wouldnt bother for that.

Just make sure you strike onto the bracket and melt down onto the silencer box or else you'll be blowing holes in it.

May not be quite as "perfect" as proper stainless welding, but it'll do the job no problems.

You don't even need the bracket as the 16v doesn't have it.

whilst the welder is out cut the pipe and weld straight through piece on!!! now that be reet not sure if it would effect compression etc

I bet your mum was livved when she came home to see those sections on her carpet

haha! she didnt know but did happen to mention 'whats these black marks on the carpet??' - of course i told her - "i dunno, where??"

thanks for your responses anyway - i'll look into getting it done. The original (magnex) centre section is rattly sounds like someone has poured a few pieces of grit into it!! the garage said the resinators (spellin?) are shot - doesnt effect performance or working of it but is a little more noisy than it should.

i dont mind tho, my newly fitted Devil system sounds ace :D , its a straight thro cente section (stainless), with a (mild) rear section. thought it would be setting car alarms off and cracking windows as it looked loud!! but its not. its much much better sounding than the magnex system. I just miss the pops and crackles :( - cant have it all - well i can try with the scorp/magnex hybrid!! :D
