View Full Version : Fallen at the first hurdle - pedal rubbers.

I've taken off the old ones and I can't get the new ones to sit properly at the top. Is there a foolproof method (for a proven fool)? Its the bit at the top where it pulls through the hole on the pedal and should settle behind the ridge on the back on the rubber pedal cover. I'm failing and it's pathetic.

Please help :-k

PS.

I'm happy for this post to be deleted after one generous soul takes pity on me. I'm sure it's taking up valuable space!

Thank god it's not just me. They're from eBay, but they look like a perfect replica. I can't really see why they won't fit but hey-ho.

Ill try Renault then. Do they have them at the dealers? I can find one on RPD, but it looks like the accelerator only. I'm working on the brake/clutch at the moment.

The pedal rubbers on the brake and clutch are the same. I'm not 100% sure the accelerator has a rubber on it though.

The pattern part ones have too small a lug on the back so they have no purchase on the pedal itself so they invariably pop off. Best off sticking with OEM on this occasion. I bought the same ones and had the same problem, I even emailed the seller letting him know that there may be an issue with them. Maybe you can email him too?

I will. I've bought a replacement accelerator pedal from eBay for £10 I think. I guess I'll find out if it is a direct swap when it arrives.

These are the pedal rubber I bought out of interest:

This is the accelerator:

We'll see...

Just to finish the topic; the accelerator pedal was a perfect replacement and the genuine Renault accelerator and clutch pedals were easy to fit so stick to Renault parts for those.

I looked at the Schakal ones however I discounted them as they weren't ribbed like the OEM ones. Petty I know, but that's just me.

Just to clarify guys , the pedal rubbers i sell on ebay are the new renault design harder wearing rubber and are a perfect fit unlike pattern parts.
I have these fitted on my renault 9 , all you do is to pull the lip using a pair of pliers and it will locate itself inside the hole on the pedal :)
