View Full Version : Window problems
anyone else have window problems??? well basically sometimes my drivers window wont go back up symetrically, and the larger side of the window will lift right up and tip forward out of its runner, thus pulling the front egde of the window(the side of the window that runs down the windscreen pillar) out of its runner, which then causes the window to not go back to the top leaving a gap. i know on the corner of the window there is a plastic clip affixed right through the window that holds the window in its tunner, do these wear?? and has anyone else had/fixed these problems?
ai the plastic clips can break, they are riveted on iirc. need to get the window out to see if your clips failed.
Sounds similar to a problem I had with one of my previous cars. Am not sure if the Clio is the same but the offending window in my experience had a piece of plastic bonded to the window which had worn down so much that when the window was going up or down, it would come out of the runner then have a mind of its own.
Sounds quite similar to your problem so I'd recommend Googling an image of a MK1 Clio window to see if they are the same/similar design (I would do it for you but I'm at work and it won't allow me to search them)
as said, its a plastic/metal clip that rivets to the rear of the window and holds it in the runner
whats best way to fix? can the clip be renewed???

As coops has said ... you can rivet it back onto the window IF the clip is unbroken,
Im sure you would be able to get one off any pov spec clio and Rivet it onto your window to keep all your original glass. However you need to use plastic style rivets. if you use normal steel rivets you will more than likely smash the glass.
I've only ever swapped the whole window mate tbh, mat brown is king! :-)
Paul FYI if it's of help.
pic 1: clip attached to upper rear of window glass fits into window rubber
pic 2: clip fitted with what appears to be an aluminium rivet
pic 3: hole in bottom centre of glass to take plastic clip at end of winder worm
pic 4: clip in place
one clip and one mount, most unusual set-up i've ever seen and supprised it's not more problematic than it seems to be

Oh hai! :)
Have you sorted it? If you still have the clip and its unbroken, just put a plastic safe rivet in it to save you having to buy a replacement window.
You need to use one like this ...

Make sure it has the grooves in. You would be best off with an alluminium one for what you need mate.
did i miss you again Paul? honestly i still dont think after 5 years i could put a name to the face......or at least a name to forum name to face assocaiation!!! oops!
