Well now that I'm officially gay with an F7R I've had to go even gayer so now I'm the out & proud owner of this Vauxhall
I've had the car for almost a month now & finally got round to giving it a decent wash & a bit of a polish, only got chance to polish the front end as I ran out of time & had to go to work

In the next month it's getting a bit of TLC in the form of a service, clutch, new brake fluid, aircon re-gas, strip & clean the brakes, new thermostat & coolant and if the guy has time to do it a bloody good paint correction & detailing session

All that lot is in preparation for a track day at Castle Combe at the beginning of July

Spec so far is:

2litre turbo
fancy exhaust - Milltek y0!, de-cat, sports cat, bigger intercooler, fancy airbox & boost pipework running 250bhp 300 lb/ft
Bilstein shocks, 30mm eibach lowering springs, a load of poly bushes & adjustable rear anti-roll bar for some oversteeryness :P

This is my boring daily & the valver is now purely a toy. It WILL be back on the road eventually, it may or may not have the silly spec engine in, it just depends on how quickly I manage to un**** my finances enough to get it done. I'm also going to spend a fair bit on this to make it drive a bit better (bigger turbo) and keep it minty mint & pretty http://www.toontastic.net/board/public/style_emoticons/default/gay.gif

I wont be selling mine, but I am looking at other options as well right now, though I am in two minds now about another performance car or some kind of diesel/hybrid barge.

I quite liked my old Astra. Was a Mk1 with brown interior and shitty green paint :)

Time for a bit of an update.

After a lot of hard work & research I got round to sourcing an uprated clutch without being ripped off  then got it to Beanie after FCS for him to replace the old knackered clutch.

After a week & 1 more journey on a bus :pale: I got the car back & was very happy with the new clutch :D ........for 300 miles that is  After 300 odd miles of abuse the clutch started slipping like a mofo, much worse than before, the car was simply undriveable :(
Got the car up in the air & discovered lots of gearbox oil finding it's way to the floor, so off she went back to Beanie to see wtf had gone wrong. This was on a saturday night (30th june), very late & with a very very intoxicated Beanie  and the car was due to be on track friday 6th july

I owe Beanie & Moo a massive massive thanks for their heroics with this, monday afternoon & the box was off & the cause of the major slippage was found, the seal on the new slave cylinder/release bearing was fcuked :x which then allowed box oil to piss out & nicely soak the clutch with tranself.
I now had my back against the wall, I had the choice of a free replacement if I got the knackered clutch & slave cylinder back to Notts from Milton Keynes and then back to Milton Keynes or bite the bullet & just buy new OE items. Only 1 of those options would allow me to make it on track & that was the new genuine stuff, so got that ordered but it wouldn't arrive until the wednesday :?

But the boy worked miracles & I picked it back up on thursday and made it out on track :D :D :D

The mud isn't from a talent failure so you can all stfu :P it's from the mad single track, country road trip from a motorway services to Castle Combe, I found a short cut 8)
The track session wasn't all smooth sailing though, built up confidence in the car & started to press on a bit more, keeping up with faster & more powerful cars until I got a sudden & horrible dollop of brake fade  Turns out my rear passenger side brake caliper was on fire  The cause? Fcuking shitty EBC Greenstuff pads had actually crumbled to pieces under heavy use, sent red hot bits of pad all over the place that settled onto the rubber dust seal setting it on fire

So what I did was sponge a lift into Chippenham, found a motor factors, got some new pads, fitted them then got straight back out on track  After that, the car performed faultlessly :D
Then when it got to luchtime, the rain came down hard & stayed that way for the rest of the day

Just a quick mention, the passengers were guys from Mission Motorsport http://www.missionmotorsport.org/ they were specially invited guests to the day & we were all taking them out for passenger laps. A brilliant charity & it was a privilege for all of us there to take them out on track.

Oh, just 1 more thing I'd like to add, Toyo Proxes PX4's are utter dog turd in the wet when trying to drive properly  they shall be coming off before I go back out on track in this car and the only other gripe I've got with the car on track is that next time I shall be fitting my harness as anything less than that is just plain crap

Having a spare car that can be used on track is where it's at these days, especially when you own a clio as your primary track toy :tongue3:

tbh I'll probably replace it with a volvo estate but gonna have to wait & see what insurance say as the fancy bits on the car are worth just as much as the car on it's own and I've still got another car spare
