hey guys..car has developed a whistle/whine when above 4/5k and does it in neutral too..thought maybe a g/box issue but not so sure.. only does it some times too..any ideas? have thought maybe the exhaust has a hole in which it produces this noise.. loudens and softens with the engine sound..

next is it being slighlty jerky when at slow speeds...is there a general issue when a car starts to get a bit jerky?

1st thing that popped into my head was an air leak

is this with the stereo on? I have heard more than one occasion of the stereo getting interference from the engine and producing a whine noise that alters with revs

havnt checked with the radio off completley just turned down so i could listen.. will try with it off..
air leak... that the rocker cover tubes? or above the inlet manifold?

Get someone to cover the tailpipe and listen for any blows.
Could also be a blocked heater matrix.

Spray all around the area & vacuum pipes with brake cleaner, if the engine revs itself up you've got an air leak, if not you've ruled out an air leak :wink:

Quick question slightly off topic..what does the screw in the tube like bit on the throttle body do? is there a way to tell where it should be set?

Dont touch that. Its set at the factory. It set the air flow/mixture i think.
