View Full Version : Tyres 185/55 or 195/50 - thougts???

I know the original spec was 185/55 but that quite a few are fitted with 195/50's instead......whats the reason for this, are 185/50's a more unusual size??

I kinda like the Michelin Pilot Exalto's on mine as I believe Micheins were the factory spec tyre, but they're 195/50's...

Whats the general story with the different sizes then???

I changed to Yokahama 195's on my car but I felt that they caused the handling to lose a little bit of sharpness. I'll be changing back to 185 Michelin Pilot Exhalto's soon.

I seem to remember that the 195's are a more common size and so are cheaper but don't quote me on that :)

Ahh yes, read that thread and am now fully informed thanks...sorry for the thread duplication!

Looks like I'll stick with the 195 Michelins then ;-)

195 Michelins all the way. Four new PE2s on the car last week and love 'em!
