Hi guys.

Ive been searching for quite a while now for a new gear knob for my Williams 2. I purchased one from Renault fish brothers and later found that it didn't fit and didn't look like my original gear knob. My original is in good condition but the writing is missing, and I'm a swine for detail! Does anyone know where I can get one please? Much appreciated, Wayne :-)

Sooooo why post in here then if it you don't have one for sale?

There is only 1 gearknob - I don't understand how you got the wrong one?

Anyway first port of call is Renault

Hey 'daz',

Sorry, I must have posted in the wrong forum by accident, so chill!
I did buy the correct gear knob but when it came back it was smaller and appeared to be cheaper looking than my original. It was made from a plastic material instead of leather. Maybe that's how they make them now!

Indeed, I have seen this also. They appear smaller and not as deep, and seem to be rougher plastic...

Ok you 100% have the correct knob.

The plastic feel of the knob will go away when it wears - I'd hazard a guess that the nice leather waxy feel you get from the old one is just crap from peoples hands!

When I replaced the 172's knob it was the same.

I've ordered one for the Megane Trophy and I wouldn't be surprised if it was the same with this either.

On your 2nd picture, the difference you see from underneath is the insert from the old one is still stuck to your gearstick.

Correct, the term is knurled.
