I think someone should do the following -

1. A twin-engine Williams. Perhaps one that has had a rear-end shunt, so it isn't a waste of a good one! Two F7Rs (cammed up of course), for about 340bhp and 4WD.

2. A rear-engined Valver with a 2.0 litre R21 Turbo engine. Sub 1000 kilos with 300+ brake.

3. A Valver with a boosted up 2.2 dCi engine :P . Mounted Longitudinally with the power going to a rear mounted box' and and as many things relocated to the boot as possible to even it out. Whacking great 300+ lb ft of torque.

4. A Twingo with a tuned 3.5 V6

Anyone else have stupid ideas like this?!

Has to be a Renault engine, otherwise it's not a Hybrid, it's a Mongrel.

The Megane engine sounds good :P

the G9T 2.2 is unreliable as std lol quick but crap!!

the new 1.5 dci k9k which is going in the new vel satis (supposedly) has about 230lb/ft torque and a fair bit more bhp then the clio version!! small and powerfull

Always fancied having a Twingo with a Williams engine, now that would be fun, knew a guy who put a 6.7 litre mustang engine in a VW Beetle

I'm sure there a 1.8 16V one in France has been done.
I've been thinking kit car engine (for weight today).

I cannot see them letting the 1.5 k9k engine go to 230lb toque the 105 1.5dci with the stronger block is limited to 240NM I think. (176lb) the weeker blocks good to over 270NM but you need loads of boost to get that level of power and Renault would accept the reguired lag.

Good little engine the 1.5 though needs loads of miles on it before it gets better. I've been driving round a 5k miles 80hp over the past days and you can tell how much tighter it is than mine.

I've often thought about a twin engiend valve the cars are cheap and the engines are cheap a 2.0 block costs way more than a whole 1.8 engine plus it gives more power. Would be a good laught as a car even with stock 1.8's that what 270hp or so and more trackion would beet the TT clio I'd recon on the 1/4 mile.

You want to bve sticking that V6 dci engine in though its a mutsbishi engine used in pickup trucks only weekness would be vibration in the engine but would make a load of torque.
A 2.2 with an appropriate turbo running 1.5 bar (stock about 1.3 I think from memory) and you could be pushing 350lb torque and pver 200hp. The probalem is finding the injectors those dci injectors arn't cheap probably best stick with an older tdi engine unless you can find a pair of 2.2 150 engines and get those injectros to the v6 then you'd have about 285 potential hp. Mapping them would costs a bit only 3 comapyies can map those things and superchips the only UK based one.

ive seent he book for it mate, one of our RTE's had it and i was having a read, it will have a decent intercooler design and maybe better turbo, remember its suppose to be going into the vel satis which isnt excactly lightweight lol

also the std G9T 2.2 dci is ok but injectors are crap, we had quite a few fail and thats std lol
