Hi guyz.I went two days ago to a local renault dealer to change cam belt and alternator belt.When i left from there i was racing with an Evo 8 but my car was making strange noises.I parked it as i said that it was just in my mind.Before three hours ago i went for a ride but after 4 miles going with 2000 rpm, the engine made a big noise and turned off.Just like that.I brought it home with assistance and got off the top engine cover.What i saw made me freeze.A screw was running on the vernier pulleys and cam belt and completly DESTROY them.I am just PISSED OFF.

From now on whatever i do on my car,i'll do it myself so i have all the responsibility on my own :twisted:
I called them but they said that : tommorow we are going on vaccasions,we'll see from next week :shock: :shock:

So had they left a screw loose under the top engine cover? That is so f*ckin annoying, these are supposed to be trained mechanics!! Sorry to see that mate, I hope you sue the b*stards!

Not under the cover but inside the cam belt :shock:

doesnt look good mate
hopefully u wont have done much damage to the head/valves/pistons....had a near expensive call like this meself only the other week
i dont trust reno to do jack.........like u say...do it yourself and theres only 1 person to point the finger at if things go wrong.....unless its of a weird nature like mine was lol
I worry most for pistons(too much compression ratio,13,1:1) and valves :cry: The worst is that if any part of these are damaged,we don't have them in stock here so we need too much time to fix it.

they better had ****in replace your engine! id be soo pissed off too! ****in tards, its amazing that something so important and so critical that is so simple is overlooked! shudnt be difficult to prove the liability of the garage in question, although when complaining i wud just get straight onto the H.O of the business and tell them u want ur engine rebuilt.....nobbers
There is no way rebuilting mey engine.Too expensive stuff to replace :cry:
We 'll see by the end of next week what we will do.

mine did pretty much the same thing....as in the engine just stopped..dead...no compression when tried to turn over.
mine was caused by the cam pulley bolt shearing inside the cam tho, so the inlet side of mine, cam was static and the pulley was jus spinning round on it....if i could get the bolt out of the cam, the only damage would be a cam pulley, 2 bent valves........but the bolt is about 1/2 way thru the threaded bit still stuck inside the cam, so i think its a write off really.
i got away pretty lightly.......hopefully u will have the same luck
2 live take the cam to a engineering company. Then can spark erode the broken bolt out.
Never good news.....hope you get it sorted a easy as pos :cry:

Ive never taken my car to a dealer. They only take care of the new cars anyway, dont give a shite about Mk1 (best 1) clios.
Everything done on my car is done by me, and if i dont know what im doin out comes the haynes manual and my old man. Cant trust strangers with my car

u sed u were racin wen u left reno???
ur ment 2 take it easy for the 1st 50 miles m8, so the cam belt can wear in, otherwise u risk ****in it up n cumin off!
so i was told when i had mine dun any way :?
end of the day, racin or not, if you got a screw stuck in there it's gonna **** up

end of the day, as big of clio fans we are, there aint nothing more dirty then the french, and the french way of thinking, english people worked on ur clio, but it all leads to one man who is french.

The crankshaft and three rods are perfect.The forth rod can be fixed but i don't want any risk cause i m going to rev at 9200 again :lol: :lol: :lol:

I found all the parts needed (not sure for an ARROW PRESSISION rod im looking, from UK tho :oops: ) and im starting building it from Monday.Before the crack we were thinking of raising the revs by 100 to reach the 9500 to find out how much rpm can handle without problems.We were at 9200 before that.We will start from there now and see how it goes.
I think that our crank and Arrow rods are powerfull :shock:
Strob, i was going to buy a race gearkit from Italy in order to remain the revs high during gear changes but now these bastards made that thought seems too far away :cry: I would like a 6spd sequential,tho. :lol:

Guyz, my clio is back on the streets from yesterday more powerful than before :evil: I hope this time all things go well :?
My car seems to have something wrong with radiator fan.I have a button inside to open when i want but when i switch it off,the fan remain open.Just like the relay doesn't work but i tested and its ok.Also if i leave open that switch and turn off the engine.... the motor is still running :shock: What the hell is going on? :roll:

I can tell you what i ve done and prices to compare with yours if you want.But be sure that would cost more to you to make something like that. I wanted a radiator like mehdi's but things there costs a lot :oops:
